"They're earning CXP too fast!!! Nerf their progress then launch the cash grab!"

That's the real reason they quickly nerfed the cxp! They were afraid it was going to interfere with people buying the boost items, and cut into their profits. Bioware seriously sometimes doesn't have a clue. They have long past the days of decent quality development, and have gone to straight to money grabs.

It's still not p2w. But that's ok, there is enough reason to hate BW regardless.

If you want the advantage over others, and if you want to get to the end game/pvp leader board first, then yeah you can now pay to get there first.

What difference is if I get green crap every 50 or 60 minutes?

If they sold "Guaranteed BiS drop" tokens, now that would be p2w. But cry on this if you wish

It's barely p2w, if we're being honest, but it's still on the wrong side of that line, and absolutely shameful for a subscription-based game.

Before someone says F2P, reminder that you need a sub to progress, now you can pay real money to progress faster.

It's not even close to P2W. It's just buying convenience in that it slightly speeds up the time. It's exactly like XP boosts in that regard, and it offers no guarantees at all that the RNG will be kind to you - statistically you get the same number of crates.

P2W would be a cartel unlock that increased the legendary drop rate in the crates.

The only way to get tier 2 gear and subsequently tier 3 gear is to grind out LOTS of CXP. If you do ranked, which from 5.0 on will have a spread of differently geared people in it, you WILL be at an advantage if you use boosts, for many months to come.

For PvP, it's pretty much P2W on the nose.

Weekly cap is the same for everyone. Though yeah this does allow for hitting the cap faster. And the cap is absurdly high.

In THAT regard only, they're alike. That's like saying a shark and a goldfish are exactly alike because they're both fish.

XP boosts get you to max level faster, at which time every player has the same access to end game gear. There was no way to buy high end gear faster.

CXP boosts grant those players who buy them more chances to acquire high level gear, than players doing the same content at the same speed at the same max level. Given the nature of RNG in this game, the advantage is a huge variable, but it is a purchased advantage nonetheless... thus, falls under the definition of Pay to Win.
