Change from windowed mode to Fullscreen (Windowed) failed

Now what is this? I was changing from my always used fullscreen (windowed) mode to windowed mode for a skype conference (so that SWTOR doesn't always pop up when you open a window). After the conference I wanted to switch back to fullscreen (windowed) mode and got this:

The window seems to be absolutely out of proportion (more like 50x3000 instead of 1920x1080) and when I focus SWTOR the window does not appear on the screen. So I cannot enter SWTOR again to fix any graphic settings and even a restart doesn't solve the problem.

Luckily a friend told me to use ALT+ENTER to reorganize the window and it helped, but still this is a very annoying error which I wouldn't have been able to solve if I didn't know the ALT+ENTER function.

A similar thing happened to me months ago and short of a re-install of Windows 10, I can't fix it. (There are about six or seven other things that were suggested but none of them worked, including re-downloading and installing the game.)

I had to turn off windowed mode. I have to make sure I always have a browser window up to alt-tab back to. Then every time I sign out of the game, I have to reset my screen resolution to 1920 x 1080.

I can no longer use Windows onboard game recorder. I can't use Lightshot to take screen caps, either. I used to be able to put my cursor at the bottom of the screen and my taskbar would show up so I could get to things like Team Speak, etc...

This is the only program I've noticed that affects my computer like this.

Can you make a post at http://answers.ea.com/t5/STAR-WARS-The-Old-Republic/bd-p/star-wars-the-old-republic-en

And include the contents of your client settings ini file, you can find this file per the directions at http://answers.ea.com/t5/STAR-WARS-The-Old-Republic/Guide-Game-failing-to-launch-on-Clicking-Play/m-p/4809830#U4809830

There is a few possibilities on what is occurring for you

Swtor is one of the few programs that reads the edid data now if this data is wrong then things go funky.

If this is the case , it can be verified by connecting a different monitor and if this is the case for the original monitor a edid override can be created using cru - https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-Custom-Resolution-Utility-CRU and set to just the native resolution

Another possibility is windows security setting s may not be allowing the game to write to the ini file

can ascertain this by looking at the ini itself
