Why allowing us to have two companions out is a strong idea

No I didn't read through all the posts so if I say the same thing as someone else, well great minds think alike.

In the current solo flashpoints of Revan adds the battle droid in you're group making you have 2 companions available at the same time. Personally I would prefer one of my companions to be my third wheel as apposed to this droid.

My big question/concern would be about regular activity around the galaxy. I don't see a need for regular missions so would we be walking around constantly with 2 comps out? Will this require a level restriction so that leveling a new toon I don't have 2 comps trying to add their own statements.

What I don't want to see is people running around with full entourages crowding up every place so you can't click anything without hitting someone's pet.

I think it would be a blast to have this as an option though in solo flashpoints. I'd much rather have a healer and tank companion instead of a "Jesus Droid".

Amen!

I believe the idea is that this function would be for solo-mode group content only.

I believe the idea is that this function would be for solo-mode group content only.

The original idea was more of a "solo play in general" thing, but yeah, that could include solo-mode group content.

The way I imagine it, considering how much work it would be to program in dialogue for two comps (and how unlikely that is to happen), you'd have something like this:

Comp 1 (default... talks)

Comp 2 (secondary... for all intents and purposes, doesn't exist, except in combat.

Comp 2 would probably follow you around in much the same way that robot dude does in solo mode FPs. I can't see this causing issues with clicking.

As I suggested earlier in the thread (I know you didn't read all of it, so I'm telling you) it could be balanced so that stacking healing or DPS doesn't really make any difference, using some kind of % lowering of damage or healing output from companions, if you try to do more than one in the same role. This way, the amount of actual "power" you gain is minimal and what you're mostly gaining is just the trinity dynamic... healer/tank/DPS. This way it's not over the top for normal missions.

If it were implemented in solo group content to replace the robot, those damage or healing restrictions would be removed and you could set the dynamic up however you please. Stack DPS if you want or heals, or whatever.

I've thought about this myself and think in *Some instances it would be great and some Class's once a high level is reached having an escort is totally canon with S.W. However other missions it would not fit at all. Maybe this could be a Companion selection issue (choose the default 1 Comp or an escort group depending on mission rules). The S.I. for example once they've reached a High rank (Darth) They should have a number of stormtroopers following them around but this would not work for many missions. Maybe this could be an option reliant on the situation? Would be cool though. Or certain advanced missions where the player is giving direct control over a group of A.I. this would be *Wayy more SW like (Real Battles, not 2 or 3 guys shooting at 2 or 3 other guys(That's not a *Battle, its a gang fight). Hopefully :)
