Hazevamp
Hey, I'm still pretty much new, only been playing for about two weeks maybe a bit more. I'm in the middle of KOTFE and I'm at the building alliance content. To be blunt. I freaking hate it. I'm only interested in getting my old companions back and nothing more. Plus, I only got a sub to get the expansions because what I'm really into is the interactive story not the kotr mute "convos", PvP, Heroics, Flashpoints (although I don't mind if I can solo them), weekly, and dailys. The problem is, is that most of these alliance influence missions are all about grinding lock crates and doing everything I mentioned above to recruit characters. Is it possible to skip all of the Alliance content (save recruiting old companions, which doesn't require grinding) and just jump straight into Chapter 10 + or is this Alliance content important to the story to the point of barring story content due to not having a strong alliance? Or can I still build a strong alliance by just progressing with the rest of the chapters?? Please don't tell me how easy it is to just grind out the Pvp, heroics, and FP. I didn't sub to do any of that and I find it mind numbingly tedious. I just want to jump into the stories again, get my character's voice back along with my old companions, and just have fun. Coolskate
I see your point but honestly all the missions like herocis are good for you they give you data crystals and more stuff u can use to buy super op gear, so honestly you should farm heroics
AdrianDmitruk
I recently ran an alt through chapter 9 up through 12, without doing any of the grind. I only did the required convos. So yes, it's possible. My negligence didn't seem to have much effect so far. I think there might be some dialogue having to do with Star Fortresses that gets cut, but I'd only really do the grind on one character. They should have made it like legacy reputation. You can still hand in the crates after you're past Chapter 9, so if in the future the grind becomes required, you would be able to do it then. Dragondog
You don't have to do the Alliance quests per se. But as some of them have prerequisites, you may have to recruit certain characters before you can recruit other characters. Of course, you can side step all of that and bring your old companions back now. I haven't done it myself, but you can do it on Odessen somewhere. JediQuaker
I have alts that have skipped most of the Alliance building stuff (and some that haven't). It remains to be seen whether or not that affects anything important. I figure I can always do the stuff later if I need to.
Adric_the_Red
I'm only interested in getting my old companions back and nothing more. Go to your alliance HQ. In the room with the datapad where you pick up the "mission" every time one of your alliance specialists hits an even numbered rank, there is a big round terminal. It's not blue and glowy, but if you mouse over the center of it, you can use it. You will get an option to get your original companions back, or wait and get them via the KotFE story. Hazevamp
Thanks for the replies everyone! I had no idea about the terminal! I'm tempted to try it but I'll wait for the story to bring them back. I'll try to balance the game with some Heroics to get the lock crates to build up some amount of alliance rep before moving on to Chapter Ten. I was afraid to push forward out of fear that I would be locked out of recruiting my old companions or that my alliance wouldn't be strong enough for me to play any new story content. Yespa
Hey there Haze, I'm a day 1 vet here, and glad you found the terminal. The alliance building system is completely OPTIONAL and as you stated not very useful unless you like to build companion ranks ( Ive unlocked all for example). Any companion that has anything to do with the story will in fact be provided through the story and put into separate categories. Story critical companions appear at the top, and alliance individual companions in the bottom. Levelling the additional commanders is also optional, however you may want to consider doing so for two reasons: The items that level Commanders provide credits and rare/unique items that can also be sold for good money (including high rank rep items). The weekly heroics that provide these are soloable and provide one of the best incomes/time, and increases if done i na party. Second, the alliance commanders when levelled provide unique buffs in the star fortresses for now that are very useful, especially if solo farming. It is also possible that in the future they may provide additional benefits.
