It would, indeed, except for a tiny point. You're stuck with Shoulder Boy until you reach Kaliyo, then you're stuck with the in-chapter version of Kaliyo. (I wanted to use Lana because she's 20 influence ranks higher than Shoulder Boy, so tried to summon her once we reached the ground in Zakuul, and it told me I was stuck with Theron for story reasons.) Both currently have Kaliyo as their companion, but the game wants me to start chap X from the beginning. For the one in the middle of the quest, the objectives have disappeared.
