NPC mail -- Storyline implications

On occasion, I have received in-game mail from NPCs. Most is often "flavor text" and not meaningful. Recently, however, I have received email that may have storyline implications.

 

I have not found a way to "respond" to those mails through, for example, direct interaction with the NPCs.

 

Is it possible to interact with the NPCs to affect the potential outcome based on the in-game mail?

You can't reply to NPC mail, they are there to

1. Tell you the outcome of some of your choices

2. Tell you the fate of an NPC you'll probably never hear from again

3. Hint at the future
