Clicking on the pause / play button in the left corner of the launcher should do the trick, but maybe it's better to wait for deploy of a new fix patch, because it seems they took the patch server off or is overloaded at the moment. Anyway it really seems the patch server is overloaded or they took the patch server off until deploy of the new patch with a fix. Restarting the launcher and clicking on the pause/play help for unpredictable amount of seconds (plus it's super slow), so I think the best thing to do is just wait for things to normalise.
