GSF Community is awesome.

Greetings all!

I started playing GSF early last summer, and it has quickly become my favourite part of SWTOR. I was never very interested in PvP or group content before, but being a starfighter pilot was just too hard to resist. One of the big things that kept me coming back for more (despite the steep learning curve for new pilots), was the great community that GSF has. I've been very impressed by the positivity in the GSF forum, and the openness and helpfulness of the veteran pilots. There seems to be no shortage of great resources out there to help new flyers get started. I have learned a lot from many of you over the past few months, both on the forums and in game. Now that the new year has begun, and I just finished mastering my fourth ship, I wanted to say thanks to everyone for making this little corner of the game so awesome.

Cheers!

Glad to hear it and Congratz on your fourth mastered ship!

So far whats your favorite ship/build? Do you have a favorite map or are you still just enjoying them all?

If you have a microphone we should schedule a voice chat night, I could answer any outstanding questions you still have about the game or we could just do some theorycrafting if you're into that.

If you ever have any quick questions feel free to use my Ask me Anything forum thread or if you'd prefer a more private answer just private message me here on the forums.

So far I think my favourite map is the Lost Shipyards, for both TDM and domination. I played the Novadrive for a long time, but after mastering the Flashfire I don't take it out as much anymore. I really got hooked on the T1 gunship for both factions as well. Mostly using the builds from Stasie's guide here on the forum, just a couple of changes here or there (I prefer rocket pods on my Flashfire). I'm thinking of trying to get into bombers next, as I haven't spent much time with them yet. I get the feeling I'll probably be needing some pointers on that front.

I do have a mic, but it's not really suited for gaming. I'm looking into ways to work around it though.

Seconded. I've dabbled in ground pvp quite a bit and I've found that community to be almost the polar opposite of this one. To be sure, there are some very helpful PVPers out there, but by and large, it strikes me as a toxic cesspool of rage and epeen pageantry. The GSF folks are a refreshing change of pace from that mess.

I'll probably see you one of these days on Harb, I haven't been on that server much lately but I've been meaning to head back. Keep flyin'.

@OP: This is so true and cannot be repeated enough.

After having been completely annihilated on my first visit to GSF some months after launch, I went on to other parts of the game and even other games.

I came back in 2014 and gave GSF another try. But this time I read a lot of the guides and discussions on this forum.

It isn't really necessary to know all and everything on ship builds, components, or damage mechanics. But you folks on the GSF forum made my second start much easier in pointing out some key facts on how to fly (pitch/yaw, F keys, S key, boosting, etc.). And knowing how to move your ship around is so important to at least get a chance on learning the other aspects.

Since then I have spend far more time in GSF than in any other part of the game. I often only log in just to fly.

Thank you guys. You made the difference.
