With this game, all previous conventions get thrown out the window as being default and the general understood etiquette.

 

Discuss loot rules before beginning. If you don't discuss loot rules before beginning, then anything goes. If someone roles for their companion then that is alright, if they role to remod it to better suit them, that is alright as well.

 

With Companion being a very much a part of our characters, I can understand why someone would want to role for their companion.

 

With gear being moddable, I can see why someone would see a piece of gear they know would be better then what they currently have after they mod it.

 

There are so many very valid variables, that no one can really say what would be the non greedy, non ninja, way to roll for stuff.

Rolling need on an item that has stats that are worthless to you is considered both rude and greedy unless there is nobody else in the party who can use it or wants to use it and you discuss it with them ahead of time.

 

Having said that, there is nothing in the game that stops you from just rolling need on everything that drops. Doing so, however, will likely earn you an express ticket to many ignore lists.

 

untill BW puts in LFG for the wow kids, then you have a free pass to be a DBag as accountability for ones actions is loaded onto "Another Chance" and sent blind into hyperspace along with alderaan's weapon stocks.
