Some classes got a new set bonus (e.g. Sorcs new 6-piece is different from the old 6-piece). So, they are not compatible with the old bonus. To not give some classes an (dis)advantage, they decided to disable the mixing of set bonuses for everyone. Why they didn't simply change the old set-bonus, too, is another topic...
