Can we get some developer feedback on sharding/instancing?

Currently the general consensus from the playerbase is that it's way too heavy handed, it's having the negative effect of making players feel alone in a vast universe when they want to mingle and encounter others, and have that societal feeling.

the current opinion is that when there are multiple instances open with each having ~100 players (give or take), that the playerbase would rather just condense down to a single instance with many hundreds of players to interract with, and that new instances should only be opened as a last resort, and that once the population of multiple instances falls below a certain limit, that they should be automatically merged into a single instance.

this isn't limited to a select few servers either, in fact even on servers that are full and have 1hour+ queue times, there is a feeling of utter emptiness to a lot of zones.

so please, can we get some developer feedback on why the instancing is so heavy handed, and is basically forcing the majority of us to feel alone in a massively multiplayer online game?

Who made you the speaker for the playerbase? Sharding is fine thanks.

Or... you could do some research and find out there already is dev feedback on this topic and youd discover that sharding was only a tool used to deal with the initial launch of the game so hundreds of players werent camping the same mobs and that it is only a temporary measure.
