dominaura Posted April 24, 2015 Share Posted April 24, 2015 The Dark Troopers are some of the coolest recurring characters from the EU Spawned in the 1990s FPS Star Wars: Dark Forces, the Dark Troopers were an imperial experiment to make superior stormtroopers These were basically droids in stormtrooper armor ranging from phase 0 (cyborgs) to Phase 3 (exo suit/autonomous battledroid) with varying weapons, but most famously an assault cannon they used in addition to jump packs. These droids were originally meant to be a 1-off plot device/character but have a recurring appearance in star wars games an lore Notably: Galactic Battlegrounds Star Wars Galaxies Empire at War Battlefront 1 and 2 Most recently, Star Wars Commander What makes these droids so great? Advanced programming, heavy duty weapons, insane durability, AND it can fly?! Not to mention it can be a suit or a droid?! What is not to love! Though, I could easily see a IV version having a shield generator just to make them as hack worthy as the Galactic Empire loved. That said, there were many variants that were not in the numbers such as the Nova, Elite, Purge, and Inquisitorium. All of which are noted to be among the deadliest of their fields and strike fear into enemies. Heck, they often caused their opponents to just surrender since they knew they couldn't win. dominaura Posted April 24, 2015 Author Share Posted April 24, 2015 The Exogen/Urban/Victory dark troopers gave us insight on the different designs of Phase II troopers And the hunting of Xos on Mustafar; the inquisitorium Dark Troopers bearing down on him was fun to watch.
