Bahadori Posted February 27, 2015 Share Posted February 27, 2015 (edited) Hi there guys, I had quite a few requests for a Vanguard Shield Specialist guide after I put out my Combat Sentinel guide. I've had this guide written for a month or so now but did not want to post it until i recorded the video guide as well, which real life only recently allowed me the free time to complete A lot of the information here may be old news by now for most of you but I create my guides first and foremost to help those new to the class altogether. The guide is structured, first and foremost, as a text guide. All the information I know about the class has been written in it and is as complete as my understanding and experience with the class will allow. The video guide attached at the end of the text guide is there for those who would rather listen and watch over read. Each topic in the text guide has had a link added that will take you directly to that specific section in the video guide for those who are interested in only certain topics or for those not needing to watch the entire video or referencing back to it. As I state in the beginning of the video guide this is my knowledge and experience that I am sharing and in no way do I endorse this guide as the "only", "best", or "right" way to do things. Each player has they're own unique play styles and play abilities, as do I. The topics and strategies discussed are my opinions alone and are based of my experience playing the class and my knowledge gained over that time. I always welcome constructive criticism as long as it is respectful and kept in mind that we are all human beings and are not perfect. At the end of the day this is a game, which we all enjoy and have fun playing so lets keep this post constructive and positive. With that said please feel free to leave any feedback, content addition suggestions, errors found, etc. so that we can make this a positive and helpful resource to those who may need it as is my intention. Just wanted to let you know in the Adrenal section you suggest using the Anodyne Absorb Adrenal when you should be using either the Rakata Absorb Adrenal (reusable) or Exotech Absorb Adrenal (higher stats but consumed). It doesn't make sense since they are the old 50-cap ones but the newer adrenals are worse than them. Let me know once you've changed it and I will remove this part of my comment, I don't want to forever ruin your thread here with a nitpick comment that could put people off reading it. Hey brother thanks for the support and yes about a week went into this lol! That is something I did not know or even think of but you make a strong case and a good point. After work today i'll jump in game and take a look at that and make changes to the Guide. None of us is perfect, least of all me, and I really do want the guide to be as accurate and complete a resource for the SWTOR community as possible. The only feedback I have is on the Absorption paragraph. "Absorption is a pretty straight forward stat. The percentage of your Absorption stat is the damage reduction percentage you can expect applied to an attack that is absorbed. Using my current stats as an example if I absorb an incoming attack the amount of damage i'll receive from that attack will be reduced by 44.57%" This is nit picky but for clarity sake, perhaps say "to an attack that is shielded" as that explains Absorption's complementary relationship with Shield Chance. It's been a real eye opening experience and been great not only for my own self but for the community as a whole. I just wanted to let you all know, for those who have not seen yet, the guides are now hosted on the forums section of Torcommunity.com. I'll be working with Hayward, one of their moderators and admins, over the next few weeks to adapt this guide into their Official Class Guides. Torcommunity just recently received recognition by the devs as a fast up and comer and is now officially recognized by EA and Bioware as a SWTOR fan site. Please head over there, check them out, and show some love. More to come and updates will be made and posted as 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 come out. P.S.
