VitalityPrime
Odd question...but which Vanguard Discipline, in your opinion, gives the best "super soldier" feel... Shield Specialist or Tactics? My initial thought goes towards Shield Spec, because of Storm and Blitz, and being able to face-tank things...but Tactics has Gut, which is a great melee power for that "super soldier" feeling. VitalityPrime
Back when I had my Manguard tactics felt much more impactful. Yeah, I'm just having such a hard time choosing between Storm or Gut for this playstyle/concept. Edited February 13, 2015 by VitalityPrime
llayles
A word of warning: overusing Gut will actually cause you to lose a little DPS.
Col_Wilson
You only need to use Gut once when fighting a single target if you can keep refreshing the bleed with HiB. Tactics feels super soldier-y in the sense that you get into the middle of the fight and get right up in the face of somebody to start doing massive damage to whoever is unfortunate enough to be your target. You start throwing explosives, rockets, and vibroblades at them and hitting them with your gun until they eventually (usually pretty quickly) fall over. Shield Specialist feels super soldier-y in the sense that you're incredibly difficult to kill if you play it correctly (especially if you have a healer). You arrive as the vanguard... and you stay there. The biggest thing to keep in mind is that obviously one is built for DPS and the other is for tanking/survivablity. Personally I like switching to tank spec when I want to get that "super soldier" feeling because of how hard you are to kill. But that's just me. It's also pretty fun taking the 45% HtL speed increase as a tank and running the huttball in warzones. You might not be able to absorb as much direct damage as a Guardian would... but with how mobile you are combined with how resilient you are, it's hilariously satisfying to play. Yeah, I know what you're saying...being able to withstand everything really does give that super soldier-y feel. However, the one thing I really dislike about the Shield Spec, is that the Vanguard seems like he is nothing without the Rifle. The Gut ability from tactics is just a great added addition to your attack. It makes your character seem like they are a capable and versatile fighter. It's so hard to play at this point...I switch to Shield spec and then I miss Gut...I switch to Tactics and I miss Storm. It's a terrible dilemma, haha. I really want to go pre-3.0 to have Storm and Gut.
TalonVII
I feel shield tech is the way to feel super soldier, especially if you have a healer like Treek. You can sit there and just take a beating no one else can.
dijskykiller
A super soldier for me is being the walking fortress in the battlefield, that has a strong impact by not dying, and defending allies. And that is Shield Specialist/Shield Tech. Being focused but not dying, being the last one standing, holding a point till teammates arrive in regs are some situations that gives me the sense that i'm a super soldier. Furthermore, the addition of high mobility with storm/jet charge and mitigating incoming damage thru shielding also supplements that feel.
VitalityPrime
Well, I found the setup I really like for solo PvE...to give me that "super soldier" type feel. I use Tactics with Ion Cell active while I solo. Here is my "Super Soldier" and Elara Dorne. http://ouroportal.com/w/images/8/86/Project_Vanguard_1.jpg http://ouroportal.com/w/images/4/46/Project_Vanguard_2.jpg
