Fairly new player here, and I have a question about the set bonus - should I invest in a few pieces of the Arkanian set bonus gear and use the armorings while I grind out the new SOR set bonus gear, or should I just stick with my crafted 186 mods/armoring/enhancements? Kaos_KidSWTOR Posted February 10, 2015 Share Posted February 10, 2015 Just stick with your crafted 186 gear, it's got better stats. the 4 Piece for the SOR gear is pretty easy, you can do SM Ravagers pretty easy to get 4/6. Temple of Sacrifice SM though is a PITA and will take full Augments and 4/6 SB gear to complete comfortably. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I've run about every possible combination I can think of with the simulator and for both DPS specs, having set bonuses is superior to non-set bonus gear with the extra aim. Even if you have lots of Ultimate coms to spend on 198 vendor gear, you should still retain 162 armoring with set bonuses. IO only has value from the old 2-piece. Arsenal takes advantage of both the 2 and 4-piece. IO Example: 162 2-piece, everything else 198: 4752 DPS all 198 gear, no set pieces (includes +106 aim): 4741 DPS Arsenal Example: 162 4-piece, everything else 198: 4370 DPS all 198 gear, no set pieces (includes +236 aim): 4334 DPS Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
MiaowZedong Posted February 10, 2015 Share Posted February 10, 2015 (edited) Use your old set bonus armourings over new mods and enhancements, unless you're a tank (even then, if you have the best of the old sets, it can be viable, but not Arkanian).
