Viable PVE DPS?

Quick question - almost to 55 with my powertech, and I was wondering if they are considered viable endgame PVE dps for hard/nightmare raids and the like? Or are they pretty much only taken as tanks?

 

And this situation likely to change with 3.0?

On live:

 

If you're being excluded for not pulling numbers, 1 of 2 things is true

 

1. They only accept balance shadows

2. You suck

 

In 3.0:

 

No idea, but we have goals for average DPS numbers and being melee, we get a ~200dps advantage over ranged to make up for not being ranged.

 

(Devs stated they wanted:

 

Melee Sustained to do 4.325k dps in 198s

Melee Burst/Ranged Sustained to do 4.125k in 198s

Ranged Burst to do 3.925k dps in 198s

 

Combat/Carnage to do 4.225k dps in 198s

Engineering/Saboteur to do 4.025k dps in 198s

The question is will we be considered ranged or melee ;)

 

And OP, yes PTs will be viable dps. In fact, the AP tree looks insanely over the top considering range and burst options.
