Want to increase Parse for VG Assault

Hi dee Ho campers !

Disclaimers

First and only MMO

Have only just learnt what Parsing is all about in a vague sort of a way, figured it is for the Pros up until now

Havent picked up half the datacrons

Dont have any of the set bonus pieces

1 Million Ops dummy used on Ship as is

Dont use Adrenals

Tried Parse for the first time with assault specialist VG and I am around 2200 (after Million HP Dummy) - so Im thinking thats Toast and Im wondering where to go to from here or what I need to focus on to get over 3000+ at least

I do fine in PVP but obvioulsy long term Damage, it aint happening

I have all 180 gear - havent really thought strategically or tactically about gear up until now, I instinctively went for the same name pieces (the tech Oriconian Pieces)

I have 96% accuracy and 23.8% Crit - I figure these figures are not where they need to be so I need to change mods and enhancements out ? I think Im probably overdone on "power and surge" and I tried making up for this with purple accuracy and crit augments so it could be lower to be fair

In regards to getting the mods and enhancements in (to get to the right stat percentages), is it viable to just buy (with comms) a whole oriconian piece with only 1 of the 3 mods in mind ? therefore binning the other 2 pieces to comp or vendor ?

I looked at rotations beginning on Dulfy and looking at the great 2.8 Guide on this forum and feel my rotation is close to whats required, I understand the IA proc and that HIB is the be all and end all, I get that IR should be working at least every 18 seconds and that battle focus with relic should be used with rockets in current rotation

I pre load rockets and begin with Assault Plastique always then IR then Battle focus and Relic and then into it .....

I guess my questions are this

1. Whats the gain if you get all the datacrons and use an adrenal ? If Im not aiming for 4000 do I need them ?

2. How do I lift from 2200 to 3000 ?

3. Is there a set in stone rotation for the intermediate player wanted to improve ?

4. What is the most common mistakes for low parsing assault VGs ?

I am prepared to work hard at getting whats required, I just want to work efficently, not sure about running around getting all datacrons but :(

Cheers Boys and Girls

Ill start on those questions:

1. The datacrons will give +40 Aim/+40 Cunning if you get those specific ones (+30 to each if you dont get the fleet ones), which takes about 2 hours to get them all if you are good at platforming and have a guide up (hoth obviously takes the longest). The Aim datacrons are about a 32dps gain, and the cunning ones are about a 28dps gain.

An attack adrenal will get you about 30dps as well. So overall, that would be ~100dps extra if you're doing everything right. So unless you're aiming for a record you should be fine without them.

2. Without an Askmrrobot, I wouldn't be able to tell exactly what you should be hitting. If you have Ionic Accelerator on about a 6 second cooldown and keep the DoTs up, That's the important stuff.

3. There is, but its a 90 second rotation with up to 7.5 seconds of extras in case of failed procs, and its better to just get the:

IR -> IP -> SS -> HiB -> IP -> HS -> IP -> HiB -> SS -> HS -> IP -> HiB

rhythm down, while keeping AP on cooldown.

4. Probably having alacrity on their gear and wondering why their ammo management sucks.

Anyway, my recommendation if using vendor stuff?

1. Get the set bonus. Even if you have to use the rating 146 stuff from the classic comms vendor, its a full 2% dps increase for at most a 184 loss in aim

2. Get accuracy to 100% by using 5 power/Accuracy enhancements.

3. Get surge to 100% by getting the crit/surge earpiece, the power/surge implants, and 2 power/surge enhancements

4. Get a bunch of aim/power mods from whatever gear you can find that has it, and augment everything with reflex augments.

5. Everything remaining as the reflex version.

Oh and since you came from PvP, you should have the following relics:

Obroan Relic of Focused Retribution

Obroan Relic of Serendipitous Assault.

Note: If you have Brutalizer versions of these relics, they are better.

So yeah, link a torparse link and an askmrrobot (click the links to go there), and Ill give you a more detailed rundown of how to improve.

Oh and the reason im not suggesting much crit yet is you're using vendor stuff. When you start using crafted or ops-grade stuff, the crit starts coming in.

One other thing that just occured to me. You should get the companion bonus's for max affection for at least the following companions (or their equivalents for other characters):

Aric Jorgan (+1% crit rate)

Yuun (+1% surge)

Tanno Vik (+1% accuracy)

Without those bonus's, gearing up can be really frustrating. Also if you dont have the Consular/Knight/Smuggler buffs on you when parsing, that can be a pretty significant DPS loss as well.

My comps are full and I will do the parse and ask robot tasks thanks again, your info is very helpful

Hello again

Bad News is Torparse is working as intended for me and I spent a couple hours on it, both learning and trying to trouble shoot the uploading to get to a point whereby I have an analytical link to offer - forums provided lots of questions which fitted my bill but no answers, doesnt look like people use those forums much. The log records and its there ready to go, but it cannot get to the point whereby it pops out with pretty graphs and a link to send. I did notice that HARBINGER, my server is not in the list, not sure if that is meant to be like that so I just popped in my ole Dalborra server

anyways I have since learnt about Ask Robot which is a pretty funky programme, I really like it for both current set up and I like the wish list area ........... really functional site

Here is my gear for 2200 Assault VG ............ http://swtor.askmrrobot.com/character/7798097a-8aee-46d4-9486-448633f7f401

I wish I could add parse but I cant sorry

Just in regards to the Brutalizer Relics ? Use both or use 1 in conjunction with the useable UW PVE Relic ?

Thanks for your time - cheers

Yeah Torparse has been really, really slow recently. As for your askmrrobot:

Augments. All good ones. Keep them like that.

Relics. The ones I recommended are your best option unless you get a Dread Forged or Dread Master's version of them. They do work alongside each other.

If you dont want to get them, an Underworld boundless ages + Underworld serendipitous assault would work fine.

Implants: Good ones, though i'd swap that crit/accuracy one for a power/surge one

Earpiece: Good one

Mainhand: Good

Offhand: Well theres the first big problem - You have a shield equipped instead of a generator :p

A generator gives the equivalent of 1151 extra power with tech attacks, while a shield gives a mere 767 extra power for your tech attacks. By using a Shield instead of a Generator, you are severely gimping your damage.

Mods: With the exception of your offhand (which has an absorb mod), all of them are aim/power, emphasis on power, which is good.

Enhancements: With the exception of your offhand, you have 1 alacrity enhancement and 6 power/surge enhancements. I'd drop 4 of the power/surge enhancements for accuracy ones. I'd also drop that alacrity enhancement for an accuracy one, as it screws with resource management.

Armorings: Chestpiece, Belt, Pants and boots are all commando versions, when reflex is a better option as it gives more aim.

So in summary:

Replace accuracy/crit implant with power/surge

Replace armoring on chestpiece, belt, pants and boots with reflex versions

Replace offhand with an Oriconian Med Tech's Mk-1 Generator

Replace enhancement in head/offhand/gloves/boots/chestpiece with an accuracy/power version

Replace relics with the PvP "Brutalizer" Focused Retribution + Serendipitous Assault versions

Finish chapter 2 for a smuggler or an agent, or find someone who has or is currently on a smuggler so they can buff you :p

Going without the above probably will drop your DPS from 3.3k expected to 2.5k expected, and you're just very unlucky when it comes to misses and lost procs due to alacrity.

Plus you, like me, are playing in australia where latency tends to screw you over, so thats got to come into play as well.

Oh and while you're replacing gear, just use crafted MK-28 enhancements of the Initiative version (you'll need 6 of them, but when replacing the armoring on your pants you can get a spare power/surge one to use later)
