Consular Stronghold location

Of the locations for Strongholds that have been released, which do you think would be the most fitting for the Jedi Consular?

I would say it's kind of a toss-up between Coruscant and Tatooine. Corusant would make the most sense location-wise, but Tatooine would be quieter/more ideal for meditation and you'd be establishing a Jedi power base in the Outer Rim.

I'm kind of surprised Tatooine's homestead costs a lot more - I would think that lorewise it would be the other way around, much like how housing prices are a lot higher in LA/NYC.

I think most people would probably agree that Nar Shadaa would NOT be a good choice.

Why?

What better place for a skilled diplomat, healer and generably charitable do-gooder than Nar Shadaa; a moon run by a neutral party to be won over with diplomacy, with a populace very much in need of healing, charity and general good-doing?

Because Nar Shaddaa is run by the Hutt Cartel, who we've already ended up fighting in the first expansion, and even if it is "a neutral moon in need of winning over", I highly doubt a sane Jedi Master would actually want to LIVE there. Heck, even Tharan Cedrax tells you in the first companion quest with him that he was desperate to leave there.

IMO your statement is far more true of Tatooine...

There is only one alternative, and thats Coruscant. Its the capital of the republic and the seat of power for pretty much every installation imaginable.

For a CONSULAR none of the other ones make any sense.

Tattooine is secluded in the distant outer rim. That more for a hermit, a spy or a gangster.

Nar Shaddaa is pompous and extravagant. Definitely only for people oozing money and wanting to show it off in the most decadent way possible.

If you want to get seriously Jedi-like about it. Not like most Jedi would have the credits for a personal fort in any case.

Even Jedi have to live/sleep somewhere when they not travel.

I guess you can argue that the Coruscant-Apartment is a complimentary homestead for the Barsen'Thor, sponsored by the republic, which he ultimately saved from extinction.

Nar Shadda would be the last place any enemy of the Jedi would go looking for one. Nar Shadda is busy enough on a daily basis for people to not even notice a Jedi walking around from time to time. Even if your enemy came to NS looking for you and questioned the populace as to your whereabouts how much trust can you put in...

1) Drunkards

2) People that desperately need the money to pay off their debts and will tell you anything you want to hear

Tatooine on the other hand...now there is a place I'd worry about living as a Jedi. Sure it is desolate but the few people that do see you will inquire more about you simply because they don't have much better to do. In this time period it won't take long for one of them to figure out that you are a Jedi. A Sith that applies the right amount of money to the right farmer and that farmer will spill their guts about the Jedi down the street.

I'll take Nar Shadda over any other planet any day of the week. Yes on Coruscant you would have very little trouble but what amount of good can you do there thats not already being done?

I have two consulars. My LS lives on Coruscant where she sublets here apartment to the leader of Havoc Squad and her Jedi Knight brother.

My other consular is DS, she hates the hand holding of the council and their unwillingness to go for the throat, she lives on Tatooine (pending).

I use Nar Shadaa because mainly it is free, and also dual faction so I only need to get one the way I want it. Coruscant and Dromund Kaas are the guild strongholds, so I didn't want to be on Coruscant and wondering why I'm in the wrong place. If I'm on Coruscant, it's guild. Nar, it's mine. More of a practical way of doing it I suppose.

Since there is no Tython option, I'm on Coruscant. I also decked out one of the larger areas to be a Senatorial office and turned the garage into a happenin' Casino, with a separate room for the guards posted at most of the doors to run their ops. I went with an "appeal to the Republic" feel so any class could feel welcome. :)

I did say in another thread that I'm dying for a Stronghold on Manaan.
