Jedirobes and the "reason why we are not happy"

I've been reading a lot of posts lately about people asking for more traditional Jedi robes like the ones from the movies or Kotor II. Giving a lot of thought as to why we are not satisfied with what we have I think I've been able to come up with the origin of the problem.

If you take a look at these robes here http://www.google.ch/search?q=swtor+jedi+robes&client=safari&hl=en&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=qEE0U5P5O-me7Abx2oDAAQ&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=672#biv=i%7C9%3Bd%7CjF5YNOS6l9emBM%3A

You will see, that they actually resemble the traditional robes very much, except for one significant difference!

They are tight and adapt to the body shape of the wearer.

A major reason why we like Jedi robes or the original Revan armor is because they are loose. They make our character look bigger.

There has been a post asking for pants that aren't skintight. The problem with the robes is that all the models seem to adapt in form on the body model of the wearer. While this may look good on certain armor sets, it definitely destroys the essence of why the Jedi robes from the movies look so cool.

Certain armor sets like the valiant Jedi armor look cool because the textures, although adapting to the body shape, seem to make the wearer bigger, thus look cool.

The Jedi robes are not the only type of armor witch suffer from the mentioned problem. Mandalore the preserver armor has a similar problem. The chest piece fails to make your character look like a bad*ss soldier exactly because it adapts to the body shape. Hell, the original from Kotor II looks better although made with a much older and seemingly more limited graphic engine!

So, to sum this up:

The problem with many armor and why they don't look the way we want them to is due to a graphical problem.

Here's something to illustrate what I explained:

Revan's Armor as it is in the game now:

Revan's original Armor fitted with polygons and how it could look:

The last 2 pictures have been posted before I think though I'm not sure. As you can see, the textures of the current swtor Revan Armor are very true to the original. The shape is the problem! This applies also to most Jedi Robes!

My problem with the robes in game...are that most have the belt on the outside...and every single one of them have short sleeves.

Who the hell came up with the idea of having short sleeves on everything?

When I think of Jedi Robes...I think of this: https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/images;_ylt=A0LEVxuoYjRT.HUA0a1XNyoA?p=Jedi+Robes&fr=yfp-t-901&fr2=piv-web

Granted, I'm perfectly fine with my Ambitious Warrior Chestpiece...but it would be great to have robes like that.

What are your thoughts on this?

IMO, I don't think the brown bathrobes make my toons look "bigger". Perhaps it is the lifetime of looking at brown bathrobes that I am tired *of* looking at brown bathrobes. As for the engine, I don't see much of anything to get worked up about. It does what it is suppose to do.

The "we" should be changed to a singular " I ". Please do not lump your opinion in with everyone else by assuming.

Just wait for them to make the Kotor and Kotor 2 Jedi Robes. Problem solved.

Kotor 2 Jedi Knight Robes http://i.imgur.com/2NoBT6o.jpg

Kotor 2 Jedi Master Robes http://i.imgur.com/myVYAlA.jpg

Problem solved no joke.

As for Revan's gear. in the game they used the player obtainable version of Revan's gear. http://i.imgur.com/MKJyp7Z.jpg

All they did was keep the sash on the other set. http://i.imgur.com/ffgY9YD.jpg

And as I keep telling everyone else. He was one of the first models made in the game, so of course he seems simple compared to everyone else you should respect how close it is considering how early in the game he was made. i'm talking Alpha early. http://i.imgur.com/Iv4M93I.jpg

Question is not "when?" but "will they?".

http://i.imgur.com/ffgY9YD.jpg I wish we had this set.... Hood up / down without the awful scarf-thing.

Same can be said as to why not a short cape version of Malak's like as seen in the original kotor since we have a single cape model like his already in the game files? or a non cape version of Cassus so we can havepure generic Mandalorian's from Kotor.

simply put, ask and we will get eventually.

Kept asking for two years now. :)

I have a feeling the Jedi robes Eric promised that "will not be copied and pasted" version of Obi Wan's will be copied and pasted versions of Obi Wan's robes except without a midriff. In which case, I will unsub immediately.

From the looks of it that's the direction gear in Cartel Market is taking. I don't remember a thread in CM suggestions asking for ravaged Aspiring Knight (Tythonian set) set but an adaptive version of the original. >.>

Speaking of happiness: I am not happy mainly because I am an RPer and I'd like to wear some light garments from time to time as well. I am this sort of a Jedi who's not into elaborate clothing full of colours and different patterns. No. I am especially sad because trailers, media, artwork and NPCs present gear which suits me but is not available for player characters. Biggest complaint of mine would be that ALL robes obtainable outside of the cartel market have a hood up on the Jedi Knight. Being forced to have a hood glued to my head 24/7 and in every cinematic really annoyed me. While I mostly complain about the lack of traditional robes (which are surely possible to recreate nicely at this stage) I can really settle on simple stuff that was shown on trailers and what NPCs wear as well as on making variants for existing stuff but with hood down.

BTW if they will decide to announce traditional robes in their SWTOR insider they should have a male Jedi Knight in them. He should walk toward the camera, grinning and saying "Kept you waiting, huh?" (RIP Real Snake in Ground Zeroes) when camera gets close to his face.
