Help with Watchman spec

I have not played this spec in a very long time probably when they nerfed the self heals. Can someone link a watchman spec pvp and pve .Thanks

This is what I have been running when I play watchman in PvP.

I am running at 23% base crit with just under 800 bonus melee damage with Obroan gear. It gives pretty decent crit chance with burns outside of zen which is pretty nice.

How is focus management in Watchman btw, is Jedi Crusader really necessary? Or is going with Steadfast better? Assuming I don't plan on carrying Acc on my gear, I'd go with steadfast, but 2% acc is kinda negligible.

Also have you ever tried getting rid of the AoE reduction and getting 3 in Dual Wield Mastery and 2 in Insight? I was planning on that to maximize my Watchman sent's dps in PvP but was wondering how I'd fare survivability wise. Since AP PTs will probably increase in population the points in Defensive Roll might be more useful.

I'm not an elite PvP player and only play watchman occasionally as a change of pace and to improve my anti-kiting (and admittedly to make opposing healers burn CC's), but I found that for me Jedi Crusader just made life a little easier with the build and I could not see much of a difference with 2% more accuracy. I also really missed the AoE damage reduction when I did not have it, but that may change with 2.7 coming in as smash jockeys were what I needed it against that most.

Yeah, I'm also thinking the same, but then again there's AP PTs who I'm even more scared of...that Flamethrower HURTS!

Yep, and taking 30% less damage from it really helps. I've been watching the PT forums though and fortunately most of the noobs out there do not seem to be able to hit the top end of the spec's DPS potential. Hopefully that remains true so we don't see too many of these guys.

For pve http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=704248 this is probably the nicest guide floating around atm. (its a sticky though you should probably have caught onto it already..)

PVP wise this http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIrRrRMcsrzZhGM.3 is the spec i run but watchman in general is not an ideal spec (outside of very specific team based situations in arena... tank dot cleave setups) in current pvp metagame since it lacks burst and is prone to being cleansed by healers. Also the lack of any method of self cleansing slows/movement impairing effects (eg.. fleetingfooted in combat, Agility training to an extend in focus) really hurts watchman since it needs to stay on target longer to do any considerable damage.

IMO aoe reduction is still very important for pvp. Smashers aren't the only class with aoe.. they where just the ones that where in your face :p Sages/sorc (with potency/recklessness up a hybrid sage/sorc would do MORE aoe dmg then a smasher on you without cds..) and mid tree vg/pt come to mind. There is also many lesser aoe attacks outwith that.. It does make a difference even without smash.

Well, it seems like I'll end up taking the %crit chance rather than the off-hand mastery. Those burn crits deal some nice dmg and the self heals are a plus. It annoys me how Carnage just feels like a much better Spec in terms of overall talent distribution...you can get everything you need, whereas with Watchman, you gotta sacrifice stuff :S

That's more because watchman has more talents that synergize well with it though. Although I really wish I could get the +7.5% dispatch crit without screwing my focus building and centering when I run combat.

Yeah, I've totally forgotten about getting that...it's gonna screw my survivability and Focus generation.

Actually, it shouldn't impact too much on survivability and focus. If you're aiming for that increase Dispatch crit you could go;

PvP: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrRrfsMzZMMZf00z.3

PvE: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrRMfsrzZbMZf00z.3 - although you're sacrificing a point in Steadfast to get it...

Currently I run:

PvE: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIbRrRMfsrzZhGZM.3

PvP: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIrRrRrfsMzZRG.3 - but I might give the specc I linked above a shot..

This is what I was planning on running

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIrRMRrfsMzZhMMZc.3

Or, if the amount of APs decreases on my server, I might go:

http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#501bIrRMRrfsMzZRGZM.3

AP's were out in force last night. Ran into a pre-made running two with a tank-spec PT guarding and an OP healer. One match they picked up a third AP spec. Was pretty brutal as I was insta melted by prototype FT every time I got into melee range, so you may want to hang onto that AoE damage reduction since we run on the same server.
