Verain
You should upgrade any ships you plan on playing. If you don't plan on playing the blackbolt, consider using the cartel coins to turn his req into fleet req and upgrade the ship you DO plan on playing. Dulfy has good guides an the differences. Basically for scouts: There is a default scout that you get. This scout has normal guns, but extraordinary movement and some interesting systems. It's kind of niche. With fleet req, you can unlock a second scout. This scout offers you better offensive, including the likely overpowered blaster overcharge. This ship is generally considered the strongest. With cartel coins you can get a clone of that second ship. The default strike fighter has two primary weapons to swap between- say, hit them a few times with ions than switch to blasters for hull damage. With fleet req, you can unlock a second strike fighter. This strike offers you two types of secondaries (missiles), but only one type of primary. He's a bit tankier and less great in a dogfight. With cartel coins you can get a clone of the default ship.
