Oteefo Posted December 15, 2013 Share Posted December 15, 2013 So about a year or so back, The Lego Star Wars series introduced some TOR-inspired models..... #9497 was called "Republic Striker- Class Starfighter" Which essentially looks like the NovaDive.....but has folding wings....that make it into....essentially...the Flashfire..... I don't think that Flashfire is NovaDive with folded wings, but that lego model indeed makes it look so. Not to mention the game stats and build possibilities. Even the strike fighters are the same base with different wings/engines. There will be third models introduced soon-ish, again the same chasis with different accessories. Gunships will get another 2 models with the same system. It's like a Ford Transit. One universal chasis with millions of variants and uses. Other than that I can see no difference. You can see the folding mechanisms on the novas wings and the channels on the fuselage the wings fold into. The engines on the nova are set farther back because they move back when the wings extend. Would have been so cool to have the ability to sweep the wings back and fourth yourself. But do you realize that they both rotate? do this, bring up the novadive on screen turn it sideways then click the flashfire, do that really fast back and fourth and tell me if theyre the same ship or not. Hummmm... You are actually right, it seems... Though, Rocket pods. These can't rotate, because they are build into the front side of the wing. Go to the character creation for Republic, when ya get to class selection, look in the back ground. You'll see the Flashfire rise up and unfold it's wings into the NovaDive and then fly off. It is clear that the Nova and Flasfire are just reskin cash grabs by those companies. It's like the Imperial Blackbolt scout and the yet to be released scout with the open wings. When that one comes, a number of people no doubt will convert ship req. and buy cc's to unlock the ship. I suppose it's better business than to allow the wings to fold out due to modifications. I just think its a real shame that the ships don't have sweeping wings and different configurations for different roles that you can swap mid game.
