Kricys
40+ is gonna hurt. Those strong mobs are on steroids. Most of the classes I've talked to who are 50 used healers.

Kricys
Do what i did if you want vette affection so bad. I stopped using Jaesa at 40 but everytime i accepted, turned in or talked to anyone I took her out. When I was done ditched her for my healer. MorgonKara
I think it depends on what you want to do. You might be able to specialize Immortal tank as a Juggernaut and use Vette to boost your damage, but she doesn't have any ability to heal so you really would have to gear her up to burn down enemies fast. Using a healer generally gives me better survivability and less downtime but it takes a little longer to defeat MOBs.
Elvus
Quinn for the win! About level 32ish, Quinn really starts helping out. Not only does he heal better but he does some CC and pretty decent dps. I would not try leveling to 50 with just Vette.
swiftintruder
as soon as I got quinn i stopped using vette, she's nice to look at but Quinn is more useful
