I have a quick question regarding my AS PVE build, regardless of the preferential viability of the hybrid.

Would you take the point in blaster augs and keep brutal impact at 1 point? The extra point in BI only adds about 17 dps per 5 minute parse, wheras the 3% tech crit adds a whole lot of crit possibility to the predominance of AS skills.

I have the 4 piece 8% bonus; logic is telling me with all the tech abilities and 71% surge that extra 3% crit is going to be better.

I'll throw my hat into the ring on this one.

 

In my opinion, if you're torn between brutal impact and blaster augs, I'd go blast augs. Upping your tech crit, will allow you to have to worry even less about crit rating (I know you shouldn't worry about it much anyway) when you min-mix BiS at 55. It will also lead to more damage if you keep your DOTs rolling.

 

i know you aren't interested in the "hybrid" floating around, which I always assume as the 8/22/16 hybrid, but have you given any thought to an 8/10/28 build? The problem with assault plastique is it just doesn't hit hard enough. Yea, there's a burn DoT, but an Ion Pulse crit does greater than or equal to damage, at the same energy cost, reapplies your plasma cell DoT and has no cool down, and can proc ionic accelerator.

 

I personally parse better running 8/10/28 than x/x/36. the extra elemental/ion pulse damage and 2%DR are pretty nice. But if you want to stick with x/x/36, i think blaster augs, no question.
