LyulfLykaios
Are the R2 series droids around in the old republic or are they in a much further era in star wars time, was wondering because i haven't seen any R2 units in the game o far.
YoshiRaphElan
There are astromechs, like T7-O1, but no R2 units. There are some similar-looking ones with dome heads, though.

Wolfninjajedi
When exactly are the R2's suppose to come into the picture? Before the Clone Wars broke out, a little before the events of EP 1 though. Edited May 25, 2013 by Wolfninjajedi
AlexDougherty
When exactly are the R2's suppose to come into the picture? I believe R2 units were developed about a hundred years or so before Episode 1 the Phantom Menace.

Murasakikitsune
I still wish it could be retro-canonized that OOM droids were around during this time. It has been said that they were "commonplace" in the galaxy by the time Episode 1 happened. They're so adorable. <

Aurbere
The R-Series astromech droids began with the prototype P2 droid during the Rise of the Empire era. The line continued to the 'state-of-the-art' R9 Astromech droid, introduced during the Vong War. The R9 sees constant action in the StealthX/R9 pairing used by the New Jedi Order. As it stands, Industrial Automaton is unrivaled in the production of Astromech droids. I suggest picking up the New Essential Guide to Droids. Very informative.
