So when are you giving bolster for raiding?

I'd say scrap PvP gear altogether.

Honestly, why should you need different gear in PvP from PvE?

Yes you may want a different load out, but why the artificial expertise rating? It should just be left down to natural player skill.

Make all matches levelled so that all participating players can hit each other and away you go.

Heck you may even be able to world PvP then without needing to carry around an extra set of gear.

They could, but that doesn't solve the core of the problem: raid gear performing better outside raid environments than other gear.

Yes, PvE gear preforms better in PvE environments. It isn't shocking. That's how many MMOs work.....

Raiding is PvE content. Raid gear is PvE gear.

everything else.

Personally, I think your "redesign" of the system is unappealing. /shrug

IMO, that was exactly the reason for Bolster.

Real PvPers want skill-based PvP.

Whiners want gear-based, so they can be "epic."

The heart of the problem is that there currently is no noticeable for PvPers. Previously, gear was that progression. Growth and advancement was experienced through getting better gear. Currently, the gains are marginal and it feels like there is no progression for PvP players.

Making numbers bigger (valor rank) are meaningless unless there is some tangible benefit to them. Previously, there was a tangible benefit to the gear progression. With the current bolster system, there is not.

Players have been conditioned over the last 10 years to be tangibly rewarded (even if the grind is borderline unreasonable) for investing time into these activities. What is lacking is a significant and tangible reward system that is not just cosmetic. The real crux of the issue is implementing something that is appropriately meaningful without completely breaking standard gameplay and unbalancing the game.

Oh, this I agree with completely. I still hope they have some good ideas in place. But -- it's a lose-lose situation for them.

If you give real PvP gear progression -- you get people who won't PvP anymore, and complaints like before bolster was as it is now. Gear gap is so large that it isn't fun -- you just continuously die until you can stomp on other people.

Remove the gear gap, and you lose out on progression. There has to be some other way to reward PvP players without making PvP this moronic grind and smash.

Arenas/ranked actually doing something might help. Being in pre-season for this long is kind-of ruining any hope for PvP being worked on. Idk what the solution is -- but to screw with PvE players because PvPers aren't happy? Hell no.
