I'll bet on a good sorc's ability to open/maintain the gap over a good warrior's ability to close the gap most of the time. Sorcs have it much rougher in larger group fights.

 

And when exactly will the sorc manage to make some dmg on the warrior? You can't cast while kiting. Each time the warrior closes the gap he almost kills the sorc. Each time the sorc gains distance, he won't do sh. to the warri, cause he has to keep moving. And this is what this topic is about. When attacked by a melee, a ranged DPS sorc no longer is a ranged DPS because he simply can't DPS, even if he manages to gain distance. You can run away and if you're good, you can even escape and stay alive. But a DPS fighting another DPS should also be able to output some threatening dmg and not only to run and hide.

I'm thinking about madness sorcs, who have instant whirlwind (we'll miss you in 2.0!), hard stun, knockback, 2 second root, speed, and single-target slow. They also have force lightning that applies a slow and gives wrath.

 

For instant on-the-move attacks, they have creeping terror, affliction, shock, wrath+crushing darkness and deathfield. 3 of those are doing damage when the sorc is out of LOS.

 

Plenty of tools. The problem arises in larger team battles over an objective, because without excellent team support the sorc can get forced away too easily.

Great lesson, thanks a lot. So you knockback the warri. And then? You can't get away properly cause he slowed you. Oh, right. Force speed. And then? Right, he leaps to you again. Whirlwind? Lightning tree has to cast that one. Bubble stun? Great. Stun him. And then? Nothing cause he will be close to you again.

 

The only thing you can do is to delay your defeat. Because you don't have enough burst to win during the couple of secs that you are able to cast something.

 

You have more sprints, kbs, stuns and snares of your own than any warrior has leaps. You should sign up for the class.

Sorcerors are a RANGED class. As a Sorc you should not be able to stand there and spam lightning at melee classes, in melee range, and expect to survive long. Because you are ranged DPS, like a Wizard or a Mage. It's your job as a ranged class to stay ranged if you want to stay alive. This is an intentional design choice.

 

 

DEAL WITH IT OR ROLL A DIFFERENT CLASS.
