The Galactic Empire, is still the Republic only its reorganized and different I mean that is what Palpatine literally stated. "Hence forth, the Republic will be reorganized into the first....GALACTIC EMPIRE!" *Applause from the Senate* If not? Then the clone fleet is essentially screwed, cause a fleet is really just 3 cruisers. So the clone fleet, would only have 3 Venator class star destroyers vs the entire GE.
