vladunk
I'm sure pure pyrotech is prolly better but anyone tried going a.p. to get auto crit proc on rail shot and Pyro to get the reset?
therealeasy
while you are welcome to try it yourself, it wouldnt be good because you would lose thermal detonator and the skills following retractable blade are useful but among the weakest in the tree
Mooseondaloose
i've tried, and it works fairly well. thermal detonator is a loss, but hydraulic overrides is so, so much better. here's the build i've used http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301ZrsrMobskZfhrbzh.2 awesome heat regen, lots of dots to spam, and good mobility. i personally like it, but haven't tested it very much, so. but thats my two cents
bbare
This would not be advisable for pvp nor pve. What it essentially does is gimp your burst in pvp by not taking thermal detonator and actually gimps your rail shot damage by making it crit for much less. You are giving up substantially less railshot crit damage, which is essential in pvp. Your railshot can crit every time, but it still wouldn't be worth it if you are doing much less railshot damage. It will actually provide less sustained damage as well, not taking some of the talents above PPA, so it would not be as good for pve too.
langaandy
that build is a bit of a waste. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301hMZbsr0oZfhrbzGhM.2 this build keeps retractable blade if you want it but doesnt have any of the less useful AP skills.also hydraulic overides may seem useful but it is not worth the points required to get it. the same goes for prototype flamethrower. if you do this http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301ZrsrMobcZfhrbzh.2you have more points to play with and can drop flame barrage for 2 more as it is not a huge advantage imo. IDK, personally I think that 100% crit rate would trump a 35% crit rate at 30% increased crit damage. Keep in mind 2/3's or your Railshots are not going to crit. What really gives Pyro the advantage is the increased frequency of Railshots. Pyro will more than double the amount of Railshots that an AP will get. Pyro also has a huge advantage with burst because you can easily fit 2 Railshots inside of 5 seconds and if both of those crit then ya, way more burst.
