SgtKlavier
Heat dissipation rate is a function of how much heat you have. Below 40, you lose 5 per second. Above 40, I think it's 3 per second, and then even less at another value even higher. Basically, you want your heat level below 40 at all times, although its tempting and fairly easy to blow past it, especially on longer fights. Fill in with rapid shots when you're near 40, and only purposefully go over if you have vent heat ready to use.
wetslampigduex
Simple rule i go by is to rapid shot if over 25 heat(unless its a burn phase and you have vent heat). @ lvl 14(i think your said) you dont have really anything yet to help reduce heat.. around level 25-29 you'll pick up skills that will help you manage your heat. mufgufkin
Like the above poster said you are going to have a hard time managing heat till 25-30. At that time railshot procs every 6 seconds or so which also vents heat.
Sosajoshua
You said level 14? Alternate between Rapid Shot and your other abilities to give your heat a bit of time to cool. Even at 50 you should be incorporating RS in your rotations
