Slowpokeking
They are very similar, both once was a significant member of a good order, both betrayed their old order, both served as NO.2 villain in the trilogy, both had great influence and both tried to sway someone from their old order to join them. Maybe GL took a look at LotR as well?

Maybe GL took a look at LotR as well? I agree. Saruman and Dooku were very much alike, but when it comes to the movies, Christopher Lee made those roles memorable. They were both excellent at making people do what they want (Dooku with political machinations, Saruman with the Voice of Saruman). They were both powerful. And they both had armies. Maybe GL looked into Saruman. That would be cool. On a side note. For those that don't know: Saruman's army was mainly made up of Wildmen (not 10,000 Uruk-Kai like in the movies), and Eomer fought alongside Aragorn in the Battle of Helms Deep(not with riding with Gandalf). Beniboybling
Take a look at this - there are obviously established links between Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, so yes I'd agree with you.

BrandonSM
I'd be so bold to say LOtR has practically influenced Allot or very little, nonetheless.) nearly all fantasy books that came after they were published.
