A lot of these simply don't make sense in terms of the game. So, I'm going to (for the most part) pretend you ALSO want combat to be a non-essential part of the entire game. Bolded areas are my comments.

The first 6 on the lists were the basic professions. The first skill box you could pick and if i remember that long ago you could have 2 of the 6 at any one given time.

Each one of the first six would allow you to choose from the other classes of that list in their section

Artisian would allow you shipwright, architect, armorsmith plus some more

Marksman would give you the range classes basically

and so on.

The bounty hunters were true bounty hunters as in you could hunt players in the game.

Okay, sure... But saying that that list of classes needs to be in this game is kind of silly. This isn't SWG. It isn't SWG2. I'm not trying to be mean, I promise. I understand the whole, "looking for a new MMO to call home" thing.

But this game isn't even close enough to SWG to implement all of the stuff that Galaxies had. It just wouldn't fit into TOR

Well on the Prima Official game guide for Star Wars Galaxies Jump To Lightspeed it says they are 3 new professions with skill trees .........

Well you could call them professions but they were not main professions, would that be worded better?

First 6 were starting professions with the next ones Architect thru Image Designer being Elite Professions followed by Hybrid Professions Bio-Engineer to Squad Leader..... great professions true RPG gaming at it's best...add with SWTOR classes it would have been close to perfect .

But, in all honesty, you can't expect Bioware and EA to want to straight-up copy another MMO. And, not to seem harsh toward something you obviously enjoyed, a failed MMO at that. SWG was a VERY niche game. It was like playing The Sims in Space.

Bioware isn't exactly renowned for making games where crafting and hanging out in a cantina are ways to advance your character. Heck, the market isn't even facing that direction.

SWG didnt fail. Its funny how people that say SWTOR isnt failing will say a game with 300k-500k subs isnt a failed game but then go and say SWG with 300k was a failed game.

It stayed at about 300k for 2 years with it being totally neglected by SOE devs to fix bugs. The only reason it lost so many players after that was because of them trying to WoWinize it with the CU and NGE. If SWG pre-CU was still around it would have the same amount of players if not more than SWTOR does now.

there is one server called basilisk over at swgemu.com that has about 1.5k-2.5k average players on it through out the day

now this is a non official server run by normal people who rely on donations to keep it going which is $900 a month and they get triple that from there player base nearly every month, with no publicity except for word of mouth, if that is not SWG living on strong as if the force its self was making it happen i dont know what is

SWG did fail. I'm not saying TOR isn't failing as well, it most definitely is. But Galaxies did fail. When SOE will turn every other game F2P but says Galaxies wouldn't be profitable as F2P, it proves the game failed.

The thing is, it did get the CU and NGE updates. You can't just discount those and act like it never happened. Sure, the game had a happy little two-year run with a small (by successful MMO standards) community, but it eventually got CU and NGE and fell to less than 100K in '06.

The sad fact is you could add SWTOR to SWG .....but you couldn't add SWG to SWTOR ....To me SWG was the last great sandbox open world mmorpg with real role playing that was gutted by SOE....SWG could have used the storylines from SWTOR .....SWTOR needs a open world sandbox open space rpg ..that SWG was. One day someone may get it right .....Right now I'm just hoping for someone to to make a great huge open world sandbox single player Star Wars RPG, maybe with co-op play.

As long as the can make a new class without the voice overs....think about it, how long would it take to make a new class and try to include it with the current story lines+ voice overs??

I think that's a problem there: inability to incorporate a new class efficiently like other mmo's out there.

This thread made me visit the EMU site which I had not checked in on for probably over a year... tempting but it'll never be the same. It's just the nostalgia talking, folks.

As far as the voice overs go I could live without them, I tend to skip most of them anyways. I also feel that to keep peoples short attention spans in check they'll have to do away with them at some level to keep content flowing (playable classes and races are probably not at the top of that list) at a steady pace which BW 'promised' a few times since 1.2 launched. I'm in no hurry. Just a thought.

If Creature Handler and Droidmech were implemented as "pet classes" I'd roll 1 of each.

I like the idea of a non-jedi/sith melee like a Pit Fighter, Gladiator.

The idea of a buff/CC class intrigues me. Witches of Dathomir possibly?

Really what i'd like to see most are force sensitive types who aren't jedi/sith. If anyone can figure out a way to get them into the game w/o breaking canon i'd love to hear more.
