I admit that I have accidentally taken someones objective before but I always apologize and usually mail them credits to make up for it with a written apology explaining that I didn't realize they were waiting on the object. Most of them you can click while in combat, so if you are standing around fighting, people think that you just dont need the objective. Really, it is you that is the problem in this situation.
