Hi all, I have a quandary.. in PVP and FP's I heal, and in raids I'm needed to DPS, with my War Hero/Battle Master set I have a nice healing bonus which obviously helps when PVE healing.

 

Lately I have been working on getting Columi/Rakata/Blackhole DPS gear which have been a massive boost in baseline stats but I find I am loosing alacrity and of course the "healing set bonus" (down to 2 piece PVP healing set bonus at the moment)

 

I guess I’m trying to find a balance, the short answer is just have 3 sets hehe, but that’s not viable right now, has anyone healed competently without a healing bonus's and a lack of alacrity, just how important are they? In my opinion I do fine without.

 

Has anyone else tried to multi-task? (gear-wise)

Personally I have not viewed alacrity for a commando (healer or not) a required stat. More of something to add after aim, crit and surge. As for the sets, if you play as one role for everything (like I do) it would be best to go with two sets (a PVP set of WH/B M and a PVE set of rakata/BH) so I can switch between one another depending if I pvp or pve. See pvp sets have lower stats when compared to the pve sets because pvp sets provide expertise, which is better in pvp but not so much for pve. So as you duel role you may want to consider 4 sets (2 pve and 2 pvp sets, one of each for healing and one of each for dps) to fully cover what you do. Of course that would take along time to work on, either way each of the sets are geared towards certain roles, you may lose in the long run trying to mix healer sets/mods with dps.

I've offspec healed EC HM several times.

 

Flashpoints are trivial especially with melee (group up and drop aoe heal on all four of you).

 

In my DPS gear with ~285 accuracy (aka zero benefit to me when healing)

No healing set bonus.

 

On the other hand I'm very well geared as a DPS and probably have better gear than many healers who have made it through EC HM.

 

 

The set bonus is a bit meh, I very rarely use SCC and the slightly lower CD isn't a biggie.

Thankyou for the replies, I have managed to split my gear between PVP Healing (with alacrity) & PVE DPS (without alacrity) but I notice my dps gear does more healing but of course I have no healing set bonus.

 

Now... I wonder how well I can heal in PVE :)

 

I was wondering wether to mix in a couple of healing specific items but the 2 set PVE bonus is kind of underwhelming.

Imo you should just get two sets and use whatever set is for the role you're filling at the time. Why would you off spec heal instead of just speccing combat medic? If you're in as DPS why would you be using heals regularly enough to even care about the set bonus?

 

What I'm saying is that given two classes which can both do some off healing and DPS, or given two classes, one of which is a fully specced/geared healer, the other of which is a fully specced/geared DPS, I'll take the two specialists over the two generalists every day.

Wait the DPS 2 piece PVE set bonus or the Healing 2 piece PVE set bonus? The DPS PVE set bonuses are amazing.

Sorry I think you mis-understand me ...I use combat medic OR gunnery... but I have a mix of DPS/Healing gear and I was interested in, what people thought about the PVP healing set bonuses and how much of a loss would it be in PVE.

 

For example in PVP I exclusively heal as a combat medic, but in PVE I do both Healing & DPS with respective specs of course.

 

The one thing that I have noticed is when mixing some DPS gear with my healing gear, is that my max healing has increased quite a bit but I then loose the PVP healing 4 part set bonus and alacrity.

In case there's any confusion here I meant I have offspec healed by respeccing to medic but I'm still in my DPS gear.

 

No one is suggesting healing without a set bonus AND without respeccing talents.

Funnily enough.. I accidentally healed Taral V HM as dps spec in my healer set tonite.... oops :o

 

Aside from me doing silly things like this, the 4 set healer bonus & alacrity feel a bit underwhelming. Im sure in a raid situation it would be quite different.

 

Well the next test is to do somehting silly like this in a raid hehe.
