Graziell
I had a little dispute today about whats the proper set bonus for PVP oriented assaultspecialist. Is it Combat Tech or Eliminator? I'm leaning toward Eliminator due to the range and +30% surge bonus for HiB. Am I missing something fundamental here?
Keypek
Eliminator for assault and generally combat for tactics are the most common combos. And it's 15% added chance to crit HiB for eliminator.
KBsFuRy
Go with the pve set bonus. IMO an 8% damage increase on your HiB is much better then the 15% "Chance" of a crit. Plus the 2 set bonus on the pve is better. It does cost a lot to mod everything over... but you will see a difference in your overall damage. DakoHawk
Go with the pve set bonus. IMO an 8% damage increase on your HiB is much better then the 15% "Chance" of a crit. Plus the 2 set bonus on the pve is better. It does cost a lot to mod everything over... but you will see a difference in your overall damage. the 15% extra crit chance is about ~3% more damage with HiB on average then the 8% dmg increase, @ ~35% crit chance. Even with battle focus popped, the eliminator pvp set is about 1% more damage with HiB on average than the 8% dmg increase perk. You can do the math by assuming HiB does 1 damage(or any arbitrary amount), then calculating the damage done from crits and the damage done from non crits. so with the eliminator at 35% crit(and lets say 75% surge) chance it would be ( 1 *.5 + 2.05*.5 ) = 1.525 and the combat tech would be ( 1.08 * ( 1 * .65 + 2.05 * .35 ) ) = 1.4769. Basically your choice is 3% less damage to high impact bolt or 15 seconds off combat focus. TL;DR - The 8% dmg increase is slightly worse than the 15% crit chance but you get 15 seconds off combat focus, so its your call. Chazcon
Let's not forget that switching in PvE gear will lower your Expertise which is king in PvP. 20/16/10 % on my PvP stats i consider the target, ferchrissake don't let your PvP damage bonus go below 20%. Ugh... looks like I'll be putting my WH armoring back in. What you say makes sense... had to read a few times though. 3% isn't a lot, but if you add the slight bump in aim and endurance I'll get through the armoring pieces (vs BM), then it's a no brainer. Thanks for you input, and setting me straight Edited July 13, 2012 by KBsFuRy

Agreed, but we are talking about the pve set bonus, not the actual gear. The only thing you can't put into it is the WH armoring because you will loose the pve set bonus. If I'm not mistaken both WH and BM armoring have the same expertise.
