Tekell
I am looking to buy a new computer and I wanted to know which of the two that i am looking at would run this game well on higher detail. http://www.amazon.com/iBuyPower-Gamer-Power-AM912-Desktop/dp/B00775K4SE/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top http://www.amazon.com/Dell-i570-9114BK-Inspiron-Desktop/dp/B006WYVCVO/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top?ie=UTF8&coliid=IVVH20438PIFM&colid=MR7ZKCOC2A2T I am not really looking for recommendations for a computer but if you know of one that would run well and is pretty cheep then if you could post an link for it on Amazon that would be great. Thanks for the help but I think I will get an Alienware computer. Edited June 30, 2012 by Tekell
shadowflit
Both of those are running integrated graphics, and will therefore barely meet min specs and will effectively limit you to running at lowest graphics settings. The iBuyPower has a better cpu and more ram, but you'll be so severely limited by your graphics card - or rather, lack thereof - that you might as well save money on the Dell. 8gb of ram is better though, and I'd bet that the Dell doesn't give you any spare slots for ram, so if you want to add it later you'd have to rip out what they give you and replace it with better (ie, buying the whole 8gb, vs just buying 4gb and adding it). This seems like it would be a helpful thread to browse through: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=3367 Edited June 29, 2012 by shadowflit

They will not run this game and be playable. But if you can build this it will but not with max settings shadows and bloom off the rest can be mid but very playable about $530 ( this is the lowest price I could come up with and be a gaming system) Easy build just google how to build a PC, this is much better than what your looking at. AMD Phenom II X2 560 Processor, Black Edition This has aged but is still a good budget CPU, 8GB Ram, 6770 video card (use driver version 11.12), windows 7/ 64 bit. http://www.amazon.com/Rosewill-RANGER-M-MicroATX-Tower-Computer/dp/B006BCK7RM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I15MITPHGOZFID&colid=33X56DQWLFUWG http://www.amazon.com/Lite-On-LightScribe-Layer-Drive-IHAS424-98/dp/B002SIMPXM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=IDMG3EOIINVO6&colid=33X56DQWLFUWG http://www.amazon.com/XFX-Radeon-HD6770-PCI-Express-HD677XZNLC/dp/B004Z5GRVW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2HCOKBVEYZXRZ&colid=33X56DQWLFUWG http://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-Series-240-Pin-Desktop-F3-10666CL9D-8GBNT/dp/B006NXT1QW/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I32BXEI30BO93D&colid=33X56DQWLFUWG http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-eXtreme-Series-RS500-PCARD3-US/dp/B001G0WPLK/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2FPNERVKO7F6Q&colid=33X56DQWLFUWG http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Caviar-Cache-Desktop/dp/B00461G3MS/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2NAM13O0JSIO8&colid=33X56DQWLFUWG http://www.amazon.com/Windows-Premium-64bit-System-Builder/dp/B004Q0PT3I/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=IGPG4PO79D7TY&colid=33X56DQWLFUWG http://www.amazon.com/Biostar-Motherboard-Micro-Motherboards-A780L3B/dp/B006DY3ACM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I23KHVAO4AZ57L&colid=33X56DQWLFUWG http://www.amazon.com/AMD-Phenom-Processor-Edition-HDZ560WFGMBOX/dp/B003YV21KY/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&coliid=I20KR4WWG9L6DI&colid=33X56DQWLFUWG

Like the others say, these two won't be able to run SWTOR at all, not even at minimum gaphics settings. If you're not comfortable with building your own computer, here's one I found on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Microtel-Computer%C2%AE-Computer-1333MHZ-Microsoft/dp/B002UQUOLW/ref=sr_1_21?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1340956862&sr=1-21 Still, it's not a very powerful computer - but it'll run SWTOR at medium settings, I guess. The cost of that is pretty high and I saw an Alienware computer for less should I get that instead? It is the X51 http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-x51/pd.aspx Would the Alienware run it any better than the one you showed?

You should have no problems at all depending on your monitor rez but if its 1080p or less wich in your case i'm sure it is. I would turn shadows and bloom to low everything else to mid and enjoy the game. Yes it's better then the Dell and cheaper also that Dell is not a real gaming PC this one is. DPCummerbund
That does look like a great deal on a real gaming PC. However, with shipping it's $740 with shipping. If you are interested in buying a Dell, your best option is probably to buy a refurbished one directly from Dell. I did that for my desktop & it worked pretty well. I can play SWTOR on its highest settings so far, wit only anti-aliasing turned off - but that's PVE, not sure how well it would do PVP. This Dell is only $419 with free shipping, but does NOT come with a video card. You could add a Radeon HD 7750 (the other computer came with an HD 7770, so it's fairly similar) for about $100, so the total price would be about $520, or about $200 less than the gaming PC. A lot of people would say that the $200 is well spent (better processor, better power supply, better video card, liquid cooling, and all around better components), but if you're on a budget I just wanted to show you an option. So your running everthing on the highest setting including shadows and bloom. I would like to see what specs your PC has. I saw a post where a guy was running a AMD 4200+ CPU and a 6450 GPU saying he had everything maxed out with 120 FPS. But the game caps at 111FPS and he has a decent video card for watching movies but nothing near a gaming card. If you have to add a video card then more than likely you also need a new PSU, Dell cuts their wattage very close to what comes with the PC. I would go to Ebay and buy a used PC before I bought a Dell. Also as far as turning off the AA i have it forced on through CCC and the game runs better. Not to undermind what you said I just hate to see people buy a Dell that can not be upgraded in the future. PS and the Cyberpower PSU's are really poor quality, their overrated Edited June 30, 2012 by blowmedown

Aniline
Actually, I just built a new computer this past week. Micro Center had some really good deals on processors that I couldn't pass up. So, for under $300, I ended up with a new case, new motherboard, new processor, new power supply, and new heatsink. I'm using my old video card and harddrive since both are about a year old. My CDDVDRW is my original since there was nothing wrong with it and it does what I need it to do. I'll be upgrading my video card next to match my shiny new PC. The processor I really wanted (AMD 6100) was only $20 more, but it was out of stock. Figures! They have 10 in stock now! Grrr... Processor AMD Phenom II X6 1045T Processor Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 Gaming graphics 4096 MB Total available graphics memory Primary hard disk 746GB Free (932GB Total) Windows 7 Home Premium System -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. Model GA-78LMT-S2P Total amount of system memory 8.00 GB RAM System type 64-bit operating system Number of processor cores 6 Storage -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Total size of hard disk(s) 932 GB Disk partition (C:) 746 GB Free (932 GB Total) Media drive (D:) CD/DVD Graphics -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 Total available graphics memory 4096 MB Dedicated graphics memory 1024 MB Dedicated system memory 0 MB Shared system memory 3072 MB Display adapter driver version 8.17.13.142 Primary monitor resolution 1680x1050 DirectX version DirectX 10 It took me a few hours to put it together, because I was doing two computers and I hadn't built one in a while (forgot stuff). Plus the front panel on the case was a pain to get off (broke a nail trying!). Overall though, it's not that hard to put together your own computer as long as you have all the parts, a screwdriver, and read the instructions. My video card is definitely what's holding me back now though. It currently runs very smoothly on medium settings. If I bump it to high, it'll run well except in certain areas like the fleet or my ship for some reason. So I just keep it around medium. Decided to add links to all the parts I got: Processor I wanted to get: AMD 6100: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0375766 Processor I got: Phenom II: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0382798 Motherboard (included when you got a processor): GA 78LMT-S2P: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0366104 Case: Zalman Z11 Plus: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0386580 Heatsink (because the one that comes with the chip is super tiny and doesn't cool enough): Cooler Master Hyper 212: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0315397 Power Supply: Voltas 500W: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0311650 I ended up getting a couple other parts like thermal grease, a 4 pin to 3 pin cord since the case has two system fans but the motherboard only has one system fan plug, and cord to extend the length of the power supply to the harddrive because the cord that came with it was too short and wouldn't reach properly. Sadly, the store is 30 miles from me and I ended up making 3 trips down there over the course of the build to get extra parts I didn't know I needed or them selling me the wrong processor and I didn't noticed until after the fact (but they took $10 off it).
