Boul
I wanted to add someone as a friend, but I got the message saying "that name does not exist". There's absolutely no reason I would be on his ignore list. So it must be one of those special characters for one of the vowels? Is my only hope that I see this person and manually click on him in order to do this. How do you figure it out?
Owsley
If it's a special character, as in a foreign keyboard character, you need to type in the alt keybord sequence to generate the character or use the built in Windows keymapping utility. http://lrc.salemstate.edu/aske/acrobat/symbols.pdf http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=481421 Edited June 15, 2012 by Owsley
danpen
That is the only way you can do that thank you.

I'm not sure why, but it doesn't. I don't think it is tied to a particular keyboard character as I've been able to add people who have the same character, but had it happen yesterday after doing a server transfer. Person was online (standing right in front of me) and wouldn't let me add unless I right-clicked on their portrait.
ScarletBlaze
There is another site that might help with this http://usefulshortcuts.com/alt-codes/accents-alt-codes.php
Aetou
A possibly easier option is to have them whisper you then type /r. That will put their name in your input bar, at which point you can change the /r to /addfriend. That's how I did all our guild invites with awkward names. darthdinosaur
When whispering them you will get the /whisper ******** . Just go back and delete whisper and replace it with ginvite etc.
Ashu-ri
When they send you a tell, you can right click on their name, and the drop down menu is "add friend" or whatever. That's what I've done, or I've selected /whisper, and removed the whisper, and typed /friend in front of their name.
