Assault Specialist - Floater Points

I'm messing around with the Assault spec and I was wondering what to spend my last few points in, and I'm hoping to start up a debate on what to choose.

I have three experiments so far, but by no means are they my only considerations.

The last link is by far the most... clunky, in my opinion.

HIGHLIGHT: Which secondary tree do I benefit from the most as Assault spec? Shield until I grab the Aim stat increase (perhaps when I have better gear this scales better?) or is it more logical to balance with the first tiers of Shield and Tactics? Or more in Tactics than in Shield? Tactics offers more critical chance enhancements (as well as armor pen for HIB), while Shield offers raw damage.

Also, in the Assault tree I chose Degauss and Reflexive Shield. This is mostly a personal preference, but am I losing out significantly by not grabbing Parallactic Combat Stims, Rapid Recharge, or Adrenaline Fueled? This is probably a preferential choice, but I'd love some input.

Thanks in advance for any opinions shared!

EDIT: Oh! It's also worth mentioning this is with PvP as my primary concern.

Adreneline Fueld is amazing if coupled it with Plasma Grenade. I wouldnt trade that talent for anything.

Id use something along those lines with the last 2 wiggle points in either Steely Resolve or Demolition

Some people advocate this build as it picks up all the percentage based talents

though it offers more overall damage you lose out on Assault Plastique which i personally really like for burst. But thats pure preference.

Plasma Grenade? I know of Cyro, Sticky, and Assault Plastique...

Thanks for the links, I'll re-evaluate my choices in the assault tree. But first... You don't find the 100% chance to trigger plasma's dot from your Ion Pulse necessary? Is the Endurance boost that much more useful? Or why not pick up the increased stealth detection, higher damage mitigation, and shorter CD on our "flare"? I can't remember the name, I haven't learned it yet.

For what it's worth, I've been rolling this build quite successfully: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801MZMsbZfhMbdGGMs.1

I hit 50 just a couple weeks ago, so picked up any/all damage reducers I could. I played an IF build the first week until around 400 expertise, then went to this and haven't looked back.

Interesting, I never considered the Static Field talent. I suppose I'll look into that one if my survivability is horrible. My current assault tree looks similar to yours, aside from Rapid Reload at the moment.

It's kind of surprising to me that most PvP Assault/Tactics builds pass on static field. It's pretty cheap for the damage reduction. And the AOE debuff can be worth spending the ammo on Explosive Surge in some situations (Defending Nodes/Huttball Carrier etc).

As far as Rapid Recharge, I would call that one a floater. I'm not sure what it would be like without it, but Recharge Cells is almost always up when I want it (and I use it a lot).

It's probably because there are so many straight up crit/damage talents in the first few tiers of Shield and Tactics. Most people will choose them, which is probably what I will do. I just struggle with choosing which crit/damage talents are most useful.

I'm predicting the aim percent increase talent will prove to be more valuable with higher gear levels. I'll keep checking back on this thread to see if anyone confirms my suspicion.

As for Rapid Recharge I've decided the same, it's definitely personal preference.
