MrSchmo
Been bugging me for a while now. Ive been a SW fan since saw them in the movies, but it occurred to me that I don't know the name of the galaxy where the story takes place. Also gets me thinking on how huge the universe is. That there is this one galaxy that has all this tech and can fly from star system to star system, but still can't reach out lying galaxies. that's just shows how far galaxies are apart for each other. MrSchmo
"The Galaxy" (Far, Far Away, and a Long, Long time ago.) So the name never comes up in all the story lore? It's just known as the Galaxy?
NaimiIflya
So the name never comes up in all the story lore? It's just known as the Galaxy? Here's the best you're gonna get. From Wookieepedia: So far, no serious attempt has been made to give the galaxy an official or astronomical name. According to The Essential Atlas, the Nagai of Firefist refer to the main galaxy as "Skyriver" which it is the closest any official material has come to naming the Star Wars galaxy. We don't know however whether or how the galactic community name or refer to their own home galaxy (the way we refer to our galaxy as the "Milky Way"). Digimanbyte_ID
Technically we named it the Milky way as we are the only sentient species around here. I am sure others would have names for it. But with a billion races in one galaxy naming it seems pointless, especially where there is no inter galaxy travel network.
