Theorycraft Simulator, but I need your help

EDIT - Working on the simulator hopefully will have a release by Monday.

But I will walk everyone through a little proof of why you should take 30 power over 30 crit.

Now this is a quick proof, since the effect of crit rating dimineshes at a point the coming simulator will provide more accurate results for all cases, once crit has reached its peak.

But for a basic situtation of main hand attack with the following stats:

Strength = 1409

Power = 200

Crit Rating = 400

Surge = 200

Attack Low = 300

Attack High = 700

Crit Chance % = 5 + 30 * ( 1 - ( 1 - ( 0.01 / 0.3 ) )^( ( PrimaryStat / max(Level,20) ) / 2.5 ) ) + 30 * ( 1 - ( 1 - ( 0.01 / 0.3 ) )^( ( CritRating / max(Level,20) ) / 0.45 ) )

Crit Size % = 50 + 30 * ( 1 - ( 1 - ( 0.01 / 0.3 ) )^( ( SurgeRating / max(Level,20) ) / 0.11 ) )

Bonus Attack = Srength * 0.2 + Power * 0.23

So plugging in our sample stats:

Average Attack = 827.8

Crit % = 28.12

So one crit will be 590 additional damage

So think if we have 100 attacks, it will do 100*827.8 + 28.12*590 damage total

it will take about +40 crit rating to add 1% to Crit %, but adding 1% to crit will add another 590 damage to the above total

In order to get enough power to add 590 damage,

we first divide 590/100 = 5.9 because we will be doing "100 attacks" (this is simplified for now because I am not counting the expected 28 crits where the power should be multilplied by 1.78 from surge)

so we need to have enough power to add 5.9 damage per hit

5.9/.2 = 30 Power

SO

30 Power is about equal to 40 Crit

anyone know how to edit title once I have posted?

Get naked. Note your str etc. Put on one piece, note again. Repeat and rinse...

Not hard? I have an excell document I made someplace..

Can do the same with all stats. Accuracy, surge, expertise etc.

Hint: None of them are linear except power.

But I am not quite ready to release the simulator yet. I have recently discovered that crit rating to crit percentage, and strength to crit percentage is not linear.

No offense, but if you didn't realize this you have no business building a "simulator".

Here are a few links you should probably look at to reduce the amount of "re-inventing the wheel" going on.

so we need to have enough power to add 5.9 damage per hit

5.9/.2 = 30 Power

SO

30 Power is about equal to 40 Crit

Hum. For every point of power, you gain .2 "base damage". This is augmented by your .2812 frequency of (590/827.8) critical bonus damage.

So for every point of power, you gain .2 * (1+.2812 * 590/827.8) = .2401 damage.

To obtain 5.9 damage, you need 5.9 / .2401 = 24.6 Power, not 30. So 24.6 Pow = 40 Crit Rating with that stat configuration.
