Kunderu
I need to buy my wife a computer to use while i use our main one to play. I need an inexpensive desktop that will be enough to run office and web browse. That is all she is mainly going to use it for. Any suggestions? Kunderu
Looking around $500. Don't need a monitor.
Slamz
Anything from Best Buy will be good enough for that. Or low end Dell systems. She won't be running SWTOR on it but the biggest single expense of a gaming machine is the video card, which standard desktop computing doesn't need anyway. moowart
You can also go second hand some of those are surprisingly good for peanuts... also consider building your own if you are so inclined ie computers that often sell new for well over $1000 can be made for well under that amount. Ask around in computer shops it will give you a better idea of what you need before you buy.
Uruare
Don't buy one from Best Buy (good lawd, never buy a computer from a big box retailer. Just don't do it. Ever) Here's a solid one for $480. Will do anything but high-settings/high resolution game in the home-user department quite nicely, and has a very nice sized hard drive for storing all kinds of pictures and movies and whatnot. Here's a less powerful and less expensive one that'd be perfectly good for net browsing and running windows office, amongst other home and office-workish type of things. Here's a dirt cheap computer that could work just fine for net browsing and running windows office stuff, but with rather little power for running video or movies in high def or anysuch business. WARNING: Comes prepacked with Windows XP, if that even matters for your wife's concerns, and not Windows 7 And here's a truly bargain-basement internet surfer and word processor machine. It will absolutely not run high def movies and it has a tiny little hard drive. But, again, for the pitiful cost, it'd make an excellent internet surfer and word processor and thing to watch youtube videos on and so on, so on, so forth. WARNING: Also comes prepacked with Windows XP and not Windows 7 So, there's four general sorts of options in your price range. If you'd like more feedback or other options, feel free to say so, or PM me and I'll help you pick something tailored to your wife's wants and needs a bit more specifically!
