George Lucas' story behind creation of SW universe

This is taken from a website , which amy be true or not , but i saw it very interesting , and imo only Lucas can prove it true.

Unfortunately very few people are aware of the fact that George Lucas’ acclaimed Star Wars series is not a really very original idea. And among those few who feel that its plot is based on some other story, most think that the original plot is from Akira Kurosawa’s 1958 movie “Hidden Fortress”.

The truth, which is known by the few of the few is lying in the shadows of history.

George Lucas, at the end of 1965, made a trip to Istanbul, Turkey. The main reason he came here was not to buy a set of Turkish rug for a bargain. He was in Istanbul to search for a Turkish girl he met back in LA some months ago at a bar. He had a piece of paper with the girl’s address written on it. Tracking the address Lucas came to a rural part of the city, surrounded by dark woods. (Actually the girl she met at the LA bar was given him a wrong address to get rid of him, but poor Lucas of course did not know that. There was one thing he also did not know: That girl was not even Turkish. She was 26 year old waitress Conchita Martinez living 2 blocks away from that bar in LA, born and raised in Campeche – Mexico. Lucas should be really on alcohol to bite that)

Walking 2 hours into the woods, Lucas came across to a monumental place without any road or path. This was a sacred hidden place with a strange looking mosque built on it. Exhausted by his unfortunate city trip and facing with this unbelievable scene in the middle of nowhere, Lucas felt asleep.

When he woke up he found an old man with a long white beard dressed in a white robe, sitting next to him. The old chap spoke with a perfect English accent and told Lucas his name: Obivan Kenan Bey. Bored to death living in this oblivion alone for years, Obivan Kenan Bey suddenly felt the urge to speak to Mr. Lucas and tell him about the whole truth of this place. Kenan Bey told Lucas that, this mosque was built by him in memory of his once best friend then enemy, Vahdet. Vahdet Bey and Kenan Bey were promising and young Ottoman spies during the last days of Ottoman Empire. (That explains how his English was perfect for an old Turkish guy living in the extremely Turkish woods)

During a very secret spying mission in Poland they meet with charming Persian spy Fatma. Athough Vahdet grows some strong feelings towards Fatma, Fatma falls in love with Kenan Bey instead. Spy Fatma and Ottomon secret service agent Kenan, they marry secretly in Italy. They do not tell about this to anyone, not even to Vahdet. When they return back to Poland, Kenan learns that he is called back by the Ottomon Palace back to Istanbul for a counter spying mission. Kenan travels back to Istanbul while his best friend Vahdet stays back in Warsaw. Vahdet meets with bored and alone Fatma at a Warsaw bar. First they have great fun. However as the alcoholic beverages Vahdet consumes follow one another, he becomes more and more cheesy and he tries to touch her breasts. Trying to get rid of Vahdet, Fatma writes an address on a piece of paper and gives to him. She says that since she is a royal spy and since he is a very secret Empire agent, they cannot make out in a bar like Polish students. She suggests her to meet in a quiet place, exactly 2 weeks after.

Vahdet waits for 2 weeks and follows the address written on paper. Following the address he comes to Istanbul, to a very rural part of it at night time. He walks into the woods and walks, walks, walks… He becomes lost in the woods and after 7 days of being lost without any water and food he finally drops dead.

When Kenan returns back to Warsaw he meets with his love Fatma and Fatma tells her about that night in the bar with Vahdet. Kenan gets very angry to Vahdet and prays God for Vahdet to drop dead. He also says many things like “son of a *****”, “i will smack his face”, and “**** you Vahdet”. After months pass one by one and Vahdet doesnt show up, he starts wondering where his dear friend is. Kenan comes back to Istanbul and searches for his friend everywhere for weeks. Finally when he finds the remains of him in this place he feels very sorry that he wished Vahdet to drop dead. He decides to build a sacred mosque here in memory of his dear and unfortunate friend.

As the basic Ottoman spy salary during the last days of Ottoman Empire was very low, he spends his whole fortune on building this mosque. When he becomes penniless, Fatma dumps him and he becomes more and more dedicated to this place and feels more responsible for his friend’s loss. He calls this place Dert Vahdet and lives in this place through all those years. (Dert means Agony in Turkish)

Feeling a similarity between his trip and Vahdet’s trip that happened 50 years ago, George Lucas was touched by this story. He returned immediately back to States and started working on Star Wars script. After that time, he never took papers with addresses or telephone written on from the ladies he met in bars.

P.s. : It is a good story , TL;DR not recommended.

If you want the truth, look no further than the bhagavad gita (one of the most ancient and holiest hindu texts). The force, light, dark, and many things come from that book. Many of the tales concerning Vishnu, Krishna, and Arjun are easy leaps to those found in the SW universe.

Lucas has many Hindu beliefs. I don't speak for the man, but he's espoused as much in numerous interviews.
