Tactics and Assault Tweaks could improve a lot

So personally i feel that the shield specialist, with the exception of its 31 talent is pretty good, but if you just grab gut then that is fixed.

 

Tactics has really fun skills, but its a little lacking. Assault is a almost ranged tree, with the exception of stock strike.

 

I say move the stock strike stuff over to tactics. Battering ram is the same level as ionic accelerator, but unlike ionic accelerator it only give a free stock strike, not also refresh the cd. So make battering ram refresh the cd on stock strike much like Ionic Accelerator does for High Impact Bolt.

 

Meanwhile in the Assault tree, switch the current stock strike benefits out for Assault Plastique/Stickey Gernade. This still keeps us mobile, which is the main difference between our Commando counterpart, and (unless i have this wrong) Stickey Gernade and Assault Plastique dont scale off wep damage, thus the shared tree is largely detached from having a weapon that doesn't have as much dmg as our other counterpart.

 

In Summery it boils down to a few things,

Tactics:

at the moment Tactics has a lot of damage synergy, but most of that is wasted due to the abilities that are being buffed up are on cd longer then the buff lasts for. Give Tactics some flow synergy much like shield or assault.

Assault:

at the moment is 90% ranged abilities but has 1 melee ability that is vital to its rotation. instead of buffing up stock strike, buff up the explosives and use what the tree is about, which is a mid range dps tree that has to do with lighting stuff on fire and blowing stuff up.

Battering Ram - Chance to make Stockstrike free

Static Shield - Chance to reset the cooldown on Stockstrike

Ionic Accelerator - Chance to make HIB reset cooldown AND make it free

 

 

*Sings* One of these things is not like the other! *Sings*

 

The real issue is that Tactic's main proc doesn't help its DPS at all. A free Stockstrike is nice, but Tactics has ZERO ammo issues even without the proc.

 

What I would like to see is something like:

 

"While Gut is active on a target, Ion Pulse has X% chance and Fire Pulse has 100% chance to deal the remaining damage on Gut instantly (minimum of 50% of Gut's damage), and refresh Gut's duration."

I really wish they'd switch Heavy Stock and Brutal Impact, right off the bat. Stockstrike & Shield spec work fine with each other, and Assault <3's anything to do with HIB procs. And for that matter, swap the odds of Ion Pulse/Stockstrike proccing Ionic Accelerator and give Pulse Cannon a chance to trigger it too. Because banging my gun into someone's head to make it ready to fire a superblaster bolt strikes me really, really oddly.

 

Assault Trooper should also boost Sticky Grenade. It's high enough up that it's not like other specs are going to take it to improve AoE damage or anything. I'd like to see Assault be the elemental/ranged spec of the three. Lightning, fire, and big ol' blaster bolts and booms. Tactics should be the unstoppable stabbers, Shield the "supertanks".

The main problem with tactics is it's 31 talent.

 

Fire Pulse really needs a lot of improvement. If it was to have such crappy damage it better has a healing debuff effect or something.

 

And High Energy Cells really needs a snare effect on proc like ion in Shields and Plasma in Assault (maybe 100% proc by Gut or HiB). Otherwise Tactics will always be lacking.
