so why is cybertech considered one of the top 2 crafting professions end game?

Cybertech can make some money though other professions have pulled it just as well. So Im going to assume that anyone calling this the second best for money has no idea how to make money out of their profession.

So lets talk about how cybertech really isn't the second best and is probably the second worst if not worst.

We get armoring which can't be as good as anything you get from dailies end game, and if you are leveling it only helps for about 5 levels which you could also replace by using your commedations to buy gear from each place as you leave. The best ones i have seen made are rank (51) which is less than tionese.

Mods can be made by us but follow the exact same principal and rules as armoring and are therefore not good.

We can make speeders but they all look so similar and are only kind of cool plus everyone has all of them by the time they hit 50 and the market is already flooded with them.

Grenades are beyond garbage... I would never consider them in anything. I get to cast a 2.5k DOT 1 time per boss fight or 2/3 times per pvp match.

And finally earpieces this is the one thing we can make well. Get the Rakata recipe (a miracle to get the right one) than make a hundred of them to hope for a boosted stats with 1 augment. Though the other crafting professions with armor come with 3 of these they can make so they are 3x as good.

The only one potentially worse is artifice but thats because i dont know everything they can make.

So in the end there is one thing you can do thats kind of worth it in cybertech. And yet they nerf it.

Before you flame post remember this is about Professions at the endgame not leveling.

While leveling, you cannot easily get the ones from commendations. When it comes to commendations, the first thing you are likely to get is upgrades for weapons, most likely for you and your main companion. That's 14 commendations right there, if not 21 if you or your companion use dual weapons. So maybe you can get 2 armor mods out of 5 easy to get slots.

With cybertech, on the other hand, it easy to get all 5 armor mods, upgrade them every 4 levels and you can outfit your companions in orange gear and easily keep them up to date as well.

It is this factor that makes Cybertech great while leveling and always handy to have access to when leveling alts. Of course, part of why it is handy for alts is because the 2 day limit on how long you can keep an item up makes keeping a sufficient supply of a large number of mods on the exchange a major pain, so there's usually barely any for sale.

It is only when you hit 50 that it becomes super easy to replace them all, as you can get 24-25 daily commendations (25 on patch day, 24 on other days because the devs still haven't fixed some shoddy implementation that causes clickies to break). That pays for 3 barrels/armor mods per day. Each day gets you a 49 purple armor mod, regular mod, and enhancement as well. And, of course, you get the extra rewards from the storyline misisons the first time you do it, as well as some one time only bonuses. Suffice it to say, in 2 days, you'll have both weapons upgraded and the standard 5 orange armor pieces.

wow..... Why do they make them so bad : / ?

It worse then that... The range is just... 10-15m, such a massive disappoint.

Only reason I dont drop Cybertech yet is because I have hope they are going to do some good things in 1.2 (for all profs)

Consumables that are not consumed.

Simple as that. Give EACH crafting class a non-consumed consumable to craft and this whole mess would be fixed.

Make Artice a Saber damage buff.

Make Arms a blaster damage buff.

Make Synthweaving a speed buff

Make Armor a defense buff.

and Cyber gets their grenades and Bio gets their pots.

Sure, certain classes would gravitate to certain crafting types but so what...at LEAST every end crafting would be viable in some way.

Armoring and Mods for all alts plus: Space Equipment & Earpieces with Augment slots for any class.

Its useful to any class.

As opposed to specialised to a few classes (Artifice, Synthweaving, Armormech, Armstech).

Armoring and Mods from crafting aren't needed. I had 400 Cybertech by level 28, but I almost never made mods for myself after I realized that they're virtually given to you for free, via quests and commendations. Are the ones you can make a higher level than what you can usually get from commendation vendors? Sure, but so what? This is not a hard game. There is very little need to stay up-to-date on your equipment while you level.

Ship Upgrades are all over the GTN, and prices are falling as the servers mature. Supply is increasing and demand will soon begin to decline. No incentive there.

Being able to get the Earpiece you want, with an augment slot, is the best thing about Cybertech. However, getting that particular earpiece is usually extremely expensive and takes forever. If you find it on the GTN for 100k or so, you would have saved a lot of time and credits. This is only a sideways perk, in that it's only worth it IF someone else cannot make what you want or need.

Before someone mentions speeders, no. They're just recolors of models anyone can get, except the Cybertech version is really, really expensive.

It's also odd to see people list the ability to make credits as meaningful. Wealth is not difficult to accumulate in SWTOR. You could skip crew skills entirely and still make money. You could skip crafting and make a LOT more money.

only read the first page, but protip--

You don't have to have cybertech to use the grenades.. only the reusable grenades require cybertech. Make the lowest level grenades and use them for the extra CC.

Once your main gets biochem to 400 and gets all your reusable clickies... drop diplo or bioanalysis for scavenging, farm your mats up for grenades, and send them to an alt for crafting.

best of both worlds.
