Pavement Posted January 23, 2012 Share Posted January 23, 2012 (edited) I'd venture to say Shieldtech w/ Mako I would use (PVE): http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301G0GrdorogzZMsbZb.1 OR http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301G0GrdorogzZMcdZb.1 There is currently some turmoil about whether or not the direct damage component of "Ion Gas Cylinder" is functioning correctly. I personally haven't tested it out but if it is broken, as it has been suggested, then the point in "Hot Iron" would probably be a clear winner over a point in "Prototype Cylinders". Leveling as a Shieldtech I haven't really found any issues taking stuff down. I like the first build personally because I feel like I'm using "Rocket Punch" alot more than flame burst but as I said your mileage may vary. Vauleen Posted January 23, 2012 Share Posted January 23, 2012 I'd say roll up the Pyro tree. I don't even bother with any companions most of the time. (They are all out slicing) I have no problem killing any mobs and doing it quickly. I leveled using Advanced Prototype last time and I can tell you that things are a lot better with Pyro. Dharagada Posted January 23, 2012 Share Posted January 23, 2012 Honestly all of them can level fine, and I recommend switching between them now and then to find out which one you like. It may be worth leveling as shield initially till you get in your 30s or so and can flesh out the AP tree or Pyro tree a bit more, pyro in particular doesn't really shine till you particle accelerator.
