Vanguard Flashpoint/Operation tank spec

Now i tried to find a nice Pve talent for tanking, and couldnt find one! Maybe I didnt look good enough, but decided to make my own post!

Now I im using this spec, its specced deep into tank specialist but decided to drop the Smoke Nade and the Energy Blast as both are kinda useless for tanking.

I also decided to put some points into Tactics to get the 2% Damage Reduction. Also got the one point in Blaster Augs which im rly insecure about. To do all this i had to drop the 8% Increase dmg with Shockstrike tho, also lost 50% Slow with Ion Cell damage, and the Speed Increase from Storm.

If you got any changes or tips please post, want it to be as good as possible

I will check your spec but, smoke grenade is extremly GOOD for tanking.

its literally 20% less damage during 18 seconds, as a PBAOE.

Not taking it means you are missing out completely.

Use it vs a bad pull or vs a boss, or any pull. 1 minute cool down means its literally up for every or every 2nd pull. Use it when your healer is having a hard time.

Smoke nade is a life savier.

Well, I cant see anything about the Smoke Nade reducing 20% damage? it lowers the accuracy by 20% and you drop it straight on the ground meaning some bosses wont even get the effect (after my experience)

For a PVE tank, I dont understand why you dont want Energy blast?

Also, those 2% extra damage reduction, I honestly would skip them and get 15% extra crit damage on stockstrike and fire pulse. This will help you keep aggro, considering you will have around 50% crit on these abilities. But, its not necessary, 2% damage reduction is still some and helps, but if that would be the difference of life and death then you probably will go down anyway, as thats like 100 damage on a 5k attack, or 200 damage on a 10k attack. The times this is going to save you will maybe be once per 10.000 flashpoints. And if you want to invest 2 talents for that, go ahead. I would use those 2 talents to get:

Smoke bomb and energy blast, and then try get another point to get 2/2 for Static surge.

Energy blast is not good in pvp, well, it is, but the other points are not so its not worth the investment, but it IS good for pve.

If you run out of ammo, you cant tank, and energy blast helps you keep aggro.

I would spec this way.

This one have its flaws too, but I have taken out 4 talent points that went into damage absorb. 1% per talent point for extra damage reduction is redicilously expensive and again, will be useful once per 10k flashpoints, at which point its ok to call a wipe.

You only need them when you have a healer thats not on his toes.

And if YOU play it smart, you dont need it either.

I have taken 1 point into neural overload for one reason. You now have the option to kite.

You can kite melee elites this way IF you need to give your healer paus to heal someone else, for example,

Or you can shorten the CD on cryo nade by 5 seconds, or take 1% damage reduction.

I think the slow benefits the most, its not just a pvp talent contrary to popular belief but can be of great use in PVE as well.

Thank you, I do like the spec and thankyou for explaining whats bad and good about it. Makes it alot easyer to choose.

Its 5 meter radius PBAOE, and if you dont manage to get that into a boss then you are doing ranged damage behind your friends.

It means 20% accuracy reduction, which means, they have a 20% larger chanse to miss you. That. although not straigh 20% damage reduction, over the course of those 18 seconds, you will take roughly 20% less damage FROM the target(s) affected by smoke grenade.

If you dont get this or have a hard time getting a smoke PBAOE 5m radius (10m diamieter) to hit a boss or some mobs then you need to practice up.
