garkle
The genre is a total bore: grind-level-grind more-level again... ad infinitum. A new MMO is like a new version of "tick tac toe" that is supposed to be "awesome" because the grid lines are a really cool color. The problem is that the game mechanics are always the same. Shillen
Millions upon millions of people disagree with you. I don't like FPS games. But you don't see me on FPS game forums saying how FPS's are doomed.

Vihazur
This game just makes it seem that way, but there a number of promising titles coming in 2012. We'll see if all these supposed MMO burnouts are really so burned out, after all.
Idunhavaname
Guild Wars 2 This. Guild Wars 2 looks like something new and fun but never a game I would play hardcore or pay monthly. Vindictus also have a unique battle style gameplay with it being more action oriented than button mashing. Freyar
I'd love to see new mechanics (that's why I've been eagerly supporting MMOFPS/MMORTS games), but they'll take time to gain traction and polish. It just simply is.

Well, you can't pay a monthly fee for GW2 because it doesn't have one and I'm not sure you can play it hardcore either because it doesn't have grinds. So it's just a game to play for fun really. In case you haven't noticed, the genre's been making billions for many years, and still is. It's far from dead. What some people call grind other people call fun. Funny how different people enjoy different things, isn't it? Edited January 12, 2012 by imtrick
Mechavomit
You think Tor is grindy? Try any Asian MMO.
