TigerRei Posted January 9, 2012 Share Posted January 9, 2012 First off, I want to preface this by saying that maybe I'm not doing it right. So far to me I don't see any areas I'm making huge mistakes, but I'm having a hell of a time surviving. Right now I'm on Quesh at 36 (just started) and no matter the companion I'm struggling to survive. Trying to keep M1-4X geared is a nightmare. Keeping him alive in a fight is a struggle. Using Aric or Elara results in a similar outcome. With Aric, he can do a lot of damage but nearly every fight except for normal mobs leaves him dead and me nearly dead. With Elara, she's barely helping on the DPS front and only prolongs the fight. Forex is a headache, as even against two silvers he's barely surviving, or not at all leaving me to frantically DPS the mobs down before I get taken out. I've gone into fights with CSC trying to keep his health up. I CC mobs when I need to throw heals, but generally I end up with no ammo with him half dead and the mobs only half down. Against elites he often dies before the mob does, and I survive with 8% health or less. I feel like I'm surviving every fight by the skin of my teeth. For comparison, I've done Quesh as a Sith Sorceror using Khem and although the fights sometimes get hairy, I've gone through them all with my companion alive. Both classes are DPS (commandos as gunnery, Sorc as Madness/lightning). I want to love this class, and I did in my twenties. But getting into my 30s it's been a horrible mess. I need help bad. Nagameng Posted January 9, 2012 Share Posted January 9, 2012 Gear up Elara and make sure her medwatch is active! Lots of players forget to activate that ability and are missing out on bigger heals. Don't forget to pop your CDs on harder fight and make sure you utilize your in combat CC when it's up. Reactive Shield along with youR 10 sec self heal and a heal stim should get you through just about any fight. On some of the harder fights I REALLY had to utilize line of sight. If you're in a room with consoles/walls etc. use these to your advantage while Elara heals you up! Hope this helps. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
snaplemouton Posted January 9, 2012 Share Posted January 9, 2012 The best advice I can give you is...ALWAYS stay at 8 ammo+ if you ever go lower then that you loose .24 ammo recharge/sec..60 to .36. ENORMOUS difference.Only reason why you should ever go under it is to burst a mob dead or to burst heal when out of CD in combat medic. No other reasons. And for that, you have recharge cells ready to boost you right back up to 8+ ammos. I've done up to level 40 in gunnery with Elara being in crappy poopy gear she get at start. Reasons why: Insane DPS Aric adds to this if you keep him geared. be sure to pick up lvl 20 pvp implants or just find something on GTM or make them yourself. and earpice, find that alot of players fail to fill these slots. Read you skills and abilities, understand what you are doing and you should have no problem Play with a irl friend on skype. been playing with my irl mate Captain Grimes on Kai-Khan since lvl 1- currently lvl 35. So enjoyable Use a companion thatr suits your playstyle, experiment with talentbuilds ! Bring friends and do flashpoints/pvp. gear up soldier! (lvl 34 assault cannon = kickass) take that and mix match "sockets" from last boss drop in Taral V (or GTM for instance) and you got yourself a class A starship autocannon !
