Makk
I've been very undecided whether to go Deception or Madness. Is there some sort of Deception/Madness hybrid spec any of you folks have found effective/fun? (and if so, could you give me some info as well as tips on in what order to allocate the points?) Makk
This would be for PvE mostly. Do some limited PvP just for a break here and there.
Wolfesscythe
The problem is that the trees are two different types of DPS, and without the upper tier bonuses, either spec would do minimal damage. But if I was going to hybrid it, I'd go with a build like this http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#2000zZhGMRkhMrZf0cRr0z.1 Or this http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200ZhGMRkhZfbcRrMkb.1 Madness gets it's damage from DOTS, and Deception is direct damage. Don't expect a whole lot out of these specs, as far as damage goes.
Raixx
Both pull very good damage in PvE. It mainly depends on what kind of fight you're doing - if you can just sit on the boss and wail without having to move, Deception would probably come out on top. Madness excells in damage over time effects with some direct damage abilities. Being mainly focused on DoT's means that you can have more mobility in boss encounters without it affecting your DPS by a massive amount. Madness also has the benefit of excellent AoE with Death Field. I'm currently playing a Madness Sin in both PvE and PvP, and tend to do top damage in most Warzones and feel as if my damage is competitive after talking to others in my guild. It's impossible to say which is the better spec overall without dps meters or very extensive theory crafting.

Something tells me a dark/mad hybrid would be far more useful since they compliment eachother in some ways. Tanking + self-healing. Know of any good dark/mad specs? I made this one just now, no idea how good it works: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200McbskrZMZfbcRrMko.1 Edited January 4, 2012 by TeddyBearSniper
Acindo
Hey, I have been thinking about this myself. I am 33 right now and have leveled up purely specced Madness and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I pretty much only PvP and don't like to have to stand still. This is the spec I am thinking of trying. http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#200MZhGrMk0r0zZfbcRbMz.1 I don't think I can part with my instant whirlwind and crushing darkness from Madness. They are so useful in PvP, at least I think so. Also gives me the low slash and some other goodies. I'm sure it isn't going to do the most damage but I think it'll be enough. I was going to make a thread to ask about mine so figured I'd just put it here
