bladechaser
ok my trooper is about to hit lvl 30 and im starting to wonder whats going wrong with it .. i thought for a lvling build a tank build would be the best route to take and also use jorgen as my main lvling companion now ive looked in several locations for as much info as i can possible find with regards to builds and companion info now this is the build im currently working on http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801G0GrdorogzZMsbZb.1but im starting to find that the trooper is starting to struggle in battles .. now some people think i should use the healer companion but ive also found that killing things faster is preference to staying alive longer (personal choice ofcourse) now after looking around ive found 2 builds which seem to be of more interest to me but i was wondering if the community has a better idea on what route to take as a vanguard http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/trooper/vanguard/#::f9ef5ef3e4fe5f2ede6f11ef6:203 as a survival tank build http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#801GMbrdMbRZrkr0RMc.1 as the dps build so basically any help would be great thanks in advance

Chasted
Don't take it too harshly but you took Vanguard; you are destined to use Elara. Although if you are inistant I would suggest you drop the attempt at tanking all-together and just DPS like a champ (Assault Specialist or Tactics tree) and learn to divide incoming damage between both you and Jorgan. How I used to do it (Before I got Miranda) was I made Jorgan pull (Ctrl-1 if you haven't changed the keybinding) on one target then after the pull was made I changed his attack target to mine (Ctrl-1 again). At low levels he should have the "tanking" cooldown (The one that increases his chance to dodge and parry or something). Use that during the dicier moments. Edit: Not so sure about Flashpoints but most Heroic groups as long as you can hold agro against the elites the group can do the mission with relative ease. TormDK
I had no issues using a full tank build, with Elara as the companion from the time I placed my first talent point, till now (Currently level 41). In fact I'm enjoying the mobility and Harpoon so much that I made my Trooper alt my main.
Meta-IV
I would go for the ''Survival Tank'' build. IMO, I think this class does such an awsome job as a tank compared to the Jedi Guardian. I personally use my healing companion with some Reusable Med packs and Stimulants (BIOCHEM FTW) and I do fine in PVE.
Tororo
I am playing full tank myself and havent really struggled at all. With Elara and the abilities available to you, you can control mobs a lot better then a dps. You can take out maybe 3 - 4 mobs (that can include a special or elite). You just have to be a bit more tactical. If you see a mob open up with explosive surge, stick or Ice a melee (or just drag him around to the ranged). Harpoon the furthest mob into the bundle then hit Pulse cannon then another sticky once its off cool down and mob down. With Elara you have very little down time between fights. ururururu
make sure you keep your gear up to date, especially your rifle and companion pistol.
